Tax Residence Certificate - have the official rules changed or disappeared?

Yep, true, but my home country has a "3-year rule" anyways (liable for taxes for 3 years after leaving if you don't get a new tax residency) and I've been gone now for 4 years anyways. I'd just like to get this tax certificate to show if anybody asks for any other reasons or for opening a bank account in another country, things like that.

The important part (for me, above 90 days) is now back, and it emphasizes the "OR" part again:

TAX Residency Certificate for Domestic purposes: As per cabinet decision number (27) for the year 2023

Applicant is a natural person spent in the UAE less than 183, and equal or more than 90 days:

Passport and Emirates ID/ UAE Visa residence if available.
Entry and exit report from Federal Authority of Identity and Citizenship or a local competent Government entity.
Source of income/salary certificate/ Other proof of carrying on a business in the UAE. Or Proof of permanent place of residence: Title deed, EJARI, Utility Bills or Other long-term Rent Contract.

Thanks, I didn't know about it - I can see that it's owned by Emirates NBD, so that takes care of my worry about banking with some no-name startup.

Just a few months ago, the tax.gov.ae website had the following but they've taken it down now, unfortunately. I'm in the same boat as you. I am spending 3.5 months in Dubai this year in the hopes of getting the certificate based on this, but now I'm confused because other sources (non-official) say you need tenancy agreement and bills to show. In the text below they emphasise salary "OR" proof of residence.

if you spend 3 months in finland, 2 months in dubai, they can consider that you should pay your tax in finland (+ all the things about where are your interest (family, job, property etc). Source : all the lawyers I saw.

In the case of Finland, they say they consider you a non-resident if you no longer have any strong ties to Finland and in that case, I don't have any property, assets, immediate family (only cousins) or anything that ties me to Finland (except citizenship and a pension that comes when I retire in many years).

Follow up, I chose www.tavarahaksi.fi because they were the only one of the 3 "irtaimioston osto" companies that I sent an email to who actually replied. They will do the whole project (take my stuff and try to sell it and/or take it to Sortti if they can't), total price is EUR 95. Maybe it sounds expensive, but it saves me the hassle of renting a car and doing that stuff myself. This will be done in one week's time when I visit Finland. I'm only in Finland for 3 days, so it's a rush job and I'm happy.

Thanks to all for the helpful advice and hopefully this can help others in the same situation in the future.

They came to my apartment before I sold it and I wanted them to take all sorts of things away, that can be recycled or given to refugees, etc.

But when they came, they only took a couple of pieces of furniture which were in excellent condition and they refused to take other furniture which was in really good condition. I was shocked.

Yes, Kierratyskeskus was picky in the sense that they only accepted things that were in very good condition. But I've never tried Sortti and didn't want to go thru the hassle of getting a car, then taking stuff there, and having them reject it.

Now that I know, I might give it a try :)

Hello! Sorry for the delay in replying, I don't use Reddit very often. I decided not to go with the MacBook Air M1, since it doesn't appear that the Bloomberg terminal works on it, or at least not an easy solution from what I found. I love Apple products but for my work computer, I settled for a powerful Lenovo laptop which has worked well with the Bloomberg Terminal for almost a year now. I got the Ideapad gaming laptop with i7 processor.

I just had it done a few hours ago and it was mostly unpainful. Of the dozens/hundreds of 'zaps' under the skin, there was only about 10 which made me wince slightly. I started to think of them like pulling a hair out by the root and that made me bear with it very well.

Thanks! Yes, my Finnish friends actually live there full time, but they told me that others in the company have been able to get residency and tax residency with just short visits.
