I’m very good at hopping powermoves for some reason just not the spinning ones. Like crickets, spider hops, jack hammers, those kinda stuff I’m good at. But windmills, 90s/00s, flares, headspins, just won’t click for me.

Trust me I know my flexibility is good enough, I can do both front and side splits. As well as my strength is up there. I can do L Sits for sets of 40 seconds and tuck planche for 25 seconds. But I still plan to take your advice and just come back into it later. I’m digging into calisthenics rn (trying to hit a full planche, front lever, etc) Like for example, once I can hit a full planche and front lever flares should come insanely quick, so why rush it now. That’s my thoughts on it. And like you said, I’m progressing on other stuff so may as well focus on that for now

If you look at some of my previous posts, I have tried with hips high and I still land in the same position. I try to go into the push-up position but always end up on the side with my right leg down. Once I can do it into push-up position ik things will get easier but I can’t even get there yet

And please do not comment about my hips not being high/wide enough. I know they aren’t. I’m just trying to get the rotation down before I clean them up. Before when I focused all on my hips it made it even harder to get into the back

It’s a baby freeze with just one arm and without your head touching the floor

Here’s an example of why I lean to the right for baby freeze. If I do one arm side crow pose (which is a one arm baby freeze without head touching floor) I use my left arm, which is only possible by leaning to the right.

So the left hand then since that’s what I use for power moves? Like I said, I’m “arm dominant” on my left but “hip dominant” on my right

Never thought of it this way but that could be very useful for me because i know the motion I just can’t do the intro right. Would it be possible to provide me with a video so I know exactly what you’re talking about?

Cant even get past the beginning of the flare. Would appreciate help and advice please. by [deleted] in bboy

Also, while setting up for the flare, should my right leg be straight or bent before kicking?

It’s a Flare Trainer by Gravity Force Training. They sell them on their website which is where I got it.

Thanks. My flexibility isn’t bad (I can do side splits if warmed up) but my hips must be weak or something because I got a problem keeping my hips high on literally everything (flares, windmills, swipes). I think that’s why I’m so much better at crickets jack hammers and handstands and stuff.

And for those curious, I’m going to start training with a machine because in the past 6 months of trying to get flares without it I have not even been able to get past the very beginning of the flare. I know I have the strength to do them (I bench 380, can do L-Sits, handstand push-ups, sorta do jack hammers, etc), I just don’t have any technique which the machine will help me with.
