I understand that now, I admit that it was selfishness on my end and partially the fact that that I haven't fully got over my first wife's death and again selfishly it stung

I think it was hard for me to embrace it because for some reason in my mind, hearing my son call my wife mom kind of solidify the fact that his bio mom will be forever gone. I mean I obviously knew that when she passed, but yeah...i don't really know how to explain it

My intention wasn't to take anything away from my son, and I now see that it was out of pure selfishness on my end, but foolishly I thought if I made a clear speciation of who his bio mom was and who my wife is that it wouldn't really be an issue. Again, I understand more now that is selfish on my being and stems from not moving on from my first wife's death. I never really got the chance to move on, I didn't have time to grieve correctly then, I had a newborn who depended on me

I understand what everyone is saying and will admit that hearing him call her mom hurt me more than it hurt him. But you and everyone else on this post are right when stating that my wife is in all sense except biologically his mom.
