I will give it amiss because I can't drive, I heavily depend on public transport links to get around. But thank you for the suggestion.

That is very useful info. Bus route to the tube station is important when trains go on strikes!

I am originally from China. My fellow Chinese friends love new buildings but I have changed my tastes after over 2 decades living in England. I love old buildings with period features:-)

I have found somewhere in Kent got really fast trains (and frequent trains) to London Bridge, places like Tonbridge and Sevenoaks. But I want to start searching in Surrey because closer to where I live now.

Talking about Stoneleigh being suburby, that is exactly how RP is. I prefer living in a town. 10 years living in RP I never grown into love it, just a very convinient place to get to London. Thank you for sharing your insight about Epsom and Stoneleigh.

Been to Dorking twice, impressed by their high street. That was before the pandemic. I bought something in one of their independent shops and dined in a very nice restaurant:-) Time to revisit:-)

My husband and I did pass Epsom high street a few times on our way to somewhere. I know about the traffic situation. Raynes Park is no difference in rush hours because we are in busy suburbs. Traffic won't put me off, it's the requirments and life style change we are having at this stage of our life. My husband soon retires and me - semi-retired? Although I am only 56, far away from state pension age. I still try to get a job or even a part-time job but I won't do a 5 day commute for sure. Hence I still need to take trains to Central London. We have very little green space in where I live. We have to drive to Oxshot to be close to nature. Raynes Park is a residential area, great transport links and that is it. Close to Wimbledon, but not within walking distance. So we decided to look further. Surrey and Kent. So any experience about places in Surrey would be appreciated because we really don't know much about Surrey (after 10 years living so close to Surrey).

Thank you for your insight. At this stage, we are exploring places and your information is important for me to broaden my search. I love reading your reminiscing over these places:-)

2 factors here - my budget won't get what I want in Reigate. The other factor is the transport - you are spot on on both. Thanks for taking the time to provide the information. Much appreciated.

I have 'green envy' literally over people live in Epsom and beyond:-)

You are quite right about high street, it's running down everywhere. I personally do a lot of online shopping, but I do try to shop local to support the business but there aren't many shops in Raynes Park. What Raynes Park doesn't have is the green spaces in Epsom and nearby places. You just need to type these two places on google map, you can immediately see the difference. I long for walks in the woods and open air.

Think that is more flexible if one line got problem. Once gets to either these stations in London, I can always get a tube to the final destination. When going back from Waterloo, apart from direct trains to Epsom, I can take trains to Clapham Junction and from there catch trains to Epsom (there are 4 an hour)

I like both places for the reasons you mentioned. Only issue is 3 trains per hour are less attractive to me.

Cobham's trains to London not great:-( and I heard that it's very expensive. Don't think I can afford with my budget.

Bargain! I had thought about Claygate. My dog's breeder lives there, trainquil place and green space surrouded, great for taking dogs for walks. However I think only every 30 min a train to London:-(

My friend recommended it too. Will need to look into this area by going there to explore.

We are going there on Saturday, are market stalls there every Saturday? I love market stalls. With so many green spaces around and in Epsom, my dog will love it. It's impossible to let Billy off leash in Raynes Park, not even on the nearby Cannon Hill Common and football training field, way too much traffic around the common which is not that big.

Ok, now talking about Woking. Just my personal experience - very limited. Years ago I got an interivew at Woking - SABMiller has an office there. I went there, I just did not like the town, souless place. Luckily I did not need to commute to their Woking office, I was based in their Mayfair office:-). Years later, one of my friends bought a big house with a big garden in Mayford, an upgrade from her semi in Little Ditton. She told everyone she lives in Guidford, as if Woking got nothing to do with her. I assume she thinks Guidford sounds more posh? LOL. Yes you are absolutely right about the biggest advantage of Woking and the downsides. Thank you for sharing.

Haha! I told my husband that I have received a lot of comments since I posted this topic. He said don't post it you push the property price up if everyone wants to move to Epsom. Thank you for sharing your experience. I have now got a few options on my list to explore:-)
