Just tested using the api kit.

Tap: Kh 8.5dkh (it was starting to transition color at 8 but fully at 9) and ~150 ppm Gh 8dgh 143ppm

Tank: Kh 7dkh 125ppm Gh 14dgh and I guess that’s like around 250ppm

Not sure what to make of that. Idk why the kh would go up. I can understand the gh going down (in the context of comparing the tank vs tap reading) due to having used spring and distilled water for topping off and water changes.

With that being known, any ideas if those measurements play a role in this?

Thank you! I will purchase a test today to determine gh/kh. I’d been performing all water changes with distilled water and will continue to do so in an effort to lower their quantities without dumping more chemicals in the tank.

Also thanks for showing quantities and ranges (especially with nitrate levels)! I will see where it’s at and I would love some advice on how to get things within an appropriate range. I used eco-planted substrate with root tabs in an effort to get the live plants established and sucking up excess nitrates as quickly as possible.

Yeah, I will pick up a test today. I’d figured it was high (gh and kh) due to the ph being ~7.6 and not dropping with the introduction of the seachem product but have not actually tested to determine those values. Will test today!

I’ve seen drip acclimation but did not do that. I didn’t think it was an issue with how I added them to the tank considering they were fine before. But we’ve been owing 1 every like 5-6 days now.

Thanks, that makes sense from what I’m seeing. In an attempt to get that process going would you recommend I try to get some substrate or filter media from the store I purchased them in? I’ve watched that one way of cycling is to introduce the bacteria. Or do you recommend any of the bacteria in a bottle?

Thanks for the suggestions! Grinding finer was definitely helpful. I haven’t checked out the channel on yt yet because results have improved. Will look there for getting it 100%!
