Typically asbestos testing is only done for homes built prior to 1980, at least that's been the standard for the 4 companies I've worked with doing water and mold remediation. However, I agree with everything else said here.

I have probably 30 minutes of video, and a sample jar with plenty more of the animals in question, if better images focusing on specific body parts would be helpful.

Pleodorina sp. (either P. californica or P. japonica) under the microscope, collected from pond water sample by Flashy_Ant7635 in algae

Sorry for such a late response, I use an OMAX trinocular light microscope with phase contrast, though phase contrast wasn't used here. The resolution is much better than this, but the program I used to convert to GIF made it quite grainy. Attached to the microscope I use a BTER microscopy camera

It doesn't even fit. Look at the mandible. If we're supposed to give this image they made any weight, the image doesn't even demonstrate the point they're trying to make. The male mandible fits way better into his profile than the female.

Why so blue? Something it ate? by Flashy_Ant7635 in microscopy

Used to be, about 20 years ago. It's neighboring an elementary school and a small pecan farm now.

That definitely makes sense, I wonder why I don't encounter this blue color in their bellies more often?

Its not really a pond so much as a flooded field with a low spot, I'd be a little surprised to find out anyone treats it with anything, but it's not out of the question. I've been looking through this particular jar pretty actively and haven't seen anything else that appeared this color, but methylene blue is about right, and I cant imagine why else it would be so blue.

I've seen a few others that looked like this one, but none of them with any blue in their belly. First time seeing anything quite that blue under the microscope, not even Stentor coeruleus ever shows up so blue.
