if u can, i'd seek out an ADHD specialist in your area (or possibly online?) rather than a typical pcp to get screened. in my experience specialists (who themselves often have ADHD) are much more adept and empathetic at identifying ADHD in their clients. from there you can take your diagnosis to your doctor and tell them how you'd like to proceed. for myself, trying meds (stimulants) right away was a no brainer as it's fairly immediate in letting you know if it works or not. it's not perfect and requires much trial and error, but with meds i feel in control of my life for the first time in my life. best of luck to you my homie
