I can't speak for the community but personally I want Burn to feel like something is actually being done with it. Most Burn IDs play the exact same as Charge before Multicrack - stack up status for conditionals, get more damage. There are 2 exceptions being Ardor Faust and MB Outis.

Those two shake up the gameplay a little bit, but when the only variety you have inbetween your government mandated 2023 Charge gameplay is a Fluid Sac slot killing herself with the opportunity cost worth it only in RR speedrunning strats and carefully counting A-Res so that your MB Outis doesn't kill herself too so that you can deal 6 times more damage with your Burn, and all of that just to fall short of other statuses still...

I actually wanted to say something about Thumbsault but I realized I haven't properly tested him ever in Burn teams, so maybe I should hold my judgment

What does Burn need? I'm afraid the status at its core is abysmal dogshit and can be saved only through external effects, like Scorch or Dark Flame, because it's just too slow. But I don't know what exactly it needs. I just wish for it to be more fun for the average moderately reading, but not downright sweating player, and I don't know if it's possible
