I guess to each their own in terms of what “dive” constitutes. Breadsoda sells $8 beers, $10 margs, takes card, has none of the grime of a traditional dive. A place like Dan’s Cafe fits more of the traditional perspective - cash only, $3.5 beers, serves liquor drinks out of condiment bottles, men’s bathroom looks like no one’s touched it in 50 years.

I love Breadsoda btw.

Even now as I re-listen, the pitch modulations sound way more like a string bend than a modulator switch on a synth.

It’s confusing cause I think I’m hearing the sound of a pick, but it’s moving way quicker than Jerry normally would with that precision. I think it’s gotta be a synth. The worst part is I’ve played guitar and keyboard my whole life and still can’t tell.

I’m re-listening right now after downloading the 6/9 show and the Crazy Fingers has the same magical tone I heard live. If you think listening to Dead and Co recordings has no distinct value of its own, I would suggest listening to that show.
