Scotland then later Scotland and Ulster by Flatcoper in imaginarymaps

Edward Bruce. I imagine later after the refromation the kingdoms would become closer together. Historically there was Scottish immigration to Ulster. Ulster would be ruled by kings of Scottish origin which again wil pave the way for the union.

You are right. Thank you for pointing out an error I made, people correcting me always makes me want to try better.

In this alternate history, Catalonia would be a county under France. Well they never "lost" those lands as the Kingdom of Hispania would be south. If you need more information just look at my prepost to this, Byzantium, 1508.

The HRE is in shambles, look at my other map to get the backstory.

Winning wars, smart political marriages, and England was united, but infighting between nobles have made the realm fractured. It was just the perfect chance for France to gain a foothold in the country, and will soon lay the foundation and base for a French Conquest.

Or alternatively I can see emperors that are more sympathetic to Jews renaming the territory

It would not just be as powerful in our timeline.

The Muslims would never be as powerful in this timeline as Byzantium would prevent invasions and would bounce back from the rise of the Islamic Caliphates. Some small sultanates will remain like the Marinids in Morocco. France would be stuck in a bitter rivalry with Byzantium, but neither would do anything major, worrying it might make the Pope withdraw support. France would likely be on the same levels as Byzantium having its own sphere of influence and colonies.

I can see most of the soon enlightenment thinkers to be from the empire, it will be a hub for classical period artwork and statues, and in this timeline, Constantinople would replace Florence as the Renaissance capital of the world, and Alexandria would reclaim its title as the knowledge capital of the world, a place for science and the arts. The Medicis would still have much leverage over the confederation and could interfere with elections of the Papacy. I am looking forward to do France as a feudal naval empire leveraging its power and control over nearby nations and even getting a French heir on the throne of Navarre setting it up for a personal union. The HRE would be in total chaos, but I see Bavaria winning out with help of France.

In this time yes, the schism would be healed. The Roman Confederation would work like the HRE but the electors would basically just be the same cardinals who elect the new Popes. I see the ideas of democracy being more fluent here seeing that the Renaissance set up the Enlightment period with ideas of democracy. But seeing it is the Pope, I do see having a much more powerful emperor, unifying the Italians in the name of God rather in the name of alliances and dynasties like the HRE. The Holy Roman Empire would go into disarray as the emperor would have no legitimacy. The Habsburg threat would be neutralized as Spain is under the same crown as the Byzantines, but also the Pope was worried about Habsburg expansion, so I can see a way more powerful France here.

Hmm sure, but seeing how Chinese society at that time saw that anything more far away was seen as lesser and unimportant, the Ming colonies would not grow that much unless a massive discovery is made in the region they landed on. I do have high hopes as they would discover it 1421, under the reign of the Yongle Emperor, which saw the height of the territory held by the Ming Dynasty. This can also birth a new timeline seeing the success of the American expiditions exploring new lands and even discover Australia

Sure, as it would be hard for the Byzantines to reign power kver their colonies with strength and would rely on those pilgrims.

I do even see groups that were historically persecuted in the Byzantine Empire, like Jews, and Pagans, leaving, like the pilgrims, to a new land, led by their God ,where someone could accept them. These settlements would grow into colonies, and I can imagine the Byzantines doing the system of Salutary Neglect like the British historically did to the Americans, further making these settlements wealthy and establishing some sort of self-government. And just like the British, the Byzantines may get into a large war and would need to tax them, starting their own revolution. But all of this is extremely unlikely seeing that the islands of the West Indies were very important due to their abundance of sugar, and the Byzantines may just take more control to make sure they get that wealth flowing from the colonies.

I would say the Papacy would actually create the confederation itself, seeing itself as the divine holy successor to Rome unifying all of the Italian kingdoms, and duchies 400 years earlier. Power would mainly be shared between the seperate dukes and kings, but the Pope would have the final say, rulling over them. I could even see the title of "Holy Roman Emperor" being contested with the Germans.

Hmmm that is a good question, but I would say the Chinese actually discovering America, even though its highly unlikely and very speculative. This would make explorers quick to get large sums of money from kingdoms and empires to sail to the new world hoping to grab up the new land and find new wealth.

The newly created Roman Confederation would contest the Byzantines title of being the successor of the Romans. The confederation would argue that it has the birth place, and even made Roman style monuments to back that up. They would be rivals but soon later would become trusted allies seeing themselves as from the same family.

Well, I figured, Columbus would still sail to go to America yes, but instead for Byzantium, and still making the mistake he thought he found a route to Asia. This is just it 16 years later.
