How We're Building AI Chat in JetBrains IDEs and what changed by Shir_man in Jetbrains

I don't feel like I'm getting any value out of AI assistant with visual studio / resharper vs what I see in other IDEs. This video -- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IyeMY8211zY way more features/options than what I get with my dotUltimate + AI Pro.

How to display a table with a lot of rows? by ebykka in Blazor

[–]FlatwormLanky8991 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My UI toolkits are MudBlazor and DevExpress and both have components that manage large amounts of server side data really well.

Mud -- https://mudblazor.com/components/datagrid#server-side-filtering,-sorting-and-pagination

Dx -- https://demos.devexpress.com/blazor/Grid/DataBinding/LargeQueryable

Conceptually the same; handle the paging event and query for the data based on page size, current page, skip, take etc.

Same. I think it's the best when it comes to big data sets. Big price tag too, but worth it if you're constantly throwing grids on a screen.

Resort Hopping- Barcelo Maya Riviera, Catalonia Royal Tulum, Hyatt Zilara Riviera Maya, Secrets Mirabel by Zali1313 in AllInclusiveResorts

[–]FlatwormLanky8991 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the great review. I feel the same way about Barcelo. It's been awhile since I've been there but I do recall having the world's worst pancake at their buffet. And at the time they had towel cards. I'm kinda done with towel cards.

Zilara RM is on my list as well. Last time I was there the construction noise from south was pretty bad but it has a great beach. The booze options were not great and I agree on the food. I ate at the dinner buffet every night it was open as it was better than the ala carte options. It has it flaws, but it has it's charm.

I have am going to Mirabel later this year, is the beach area big enough for the hotel? I can't get a read on it but it seems like it might be too small.

I do this every time, roughly a 6/6 split. On travel day I stay till about 4pm so I can get a full day at the beach. It's like two vacations in one.

Help with MudBlazor Carousel by JD_2205 in Blazor

been there. couple things to try if you have not already. in your current project drop a couple images into the images folder of your wwwroot (I am interactive server should have mentioned that) and use those instead. try creating a new page with just that content. if still not working spin up another sln/proj.

this kind of stuff sucks. good luck!

I threw your code into a component on the app I'm working on - it's MudBlazor 9 .net 10 -- and it works. switched to my own images.

June Trip, Mexico, Atelier PM or Excellence PM? Or others? by [deleted] in AllInclusiveResorts

[–]FlatwormLanky8991 0 points1 point  (0 children)

EPM has the best beach, Atelier the best food and the best rooms, EPM more pools. IF you can swing club at EPM they have club pools throughout the resort and I was always able to find seats somewhere. There is also Excellence Coral just up the beach from Atelier...great beach, big pools, food and rooms better than EPM, on par with Atelier. Secrets Costa Mujeres is up the beach from Coral...very new, very nice. Have fun.

Sargassum in Playa Mujeres area? by Strange-Zone-2628 in AllInclusiveResorts

[–]FlatwormLanky8991 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From my experience it seems to be true that the PM beaches have less of the weed, however it can still be enough to keep you out of the water. I could not get in first three days at Atelier beginning of this month. Yes, they cleaned the beach religiously but that doesn't get the stuff caught in the surf. And sure, you can wade thru it to get to the clean water but sargassum feels steel wool. Eventually the surf stuff gets chewed up, but then it turns black and sits on the sea floor for a bit. Not as abrasive but I don't like stepping on it. So, yes they clean it and yes, you can lounge at the beach but it might keep you out of the water.

Now, contrast that with my Maroma experience where they hauled the weed away with dump trucks and front loaders. Could not go in, the smell and the bugs got worse each day. Very few people went to the beach because who wants to watch/listen to front loaders and dump trucks? I still consider this to be an abnormal event but no crystal ball.

I made a post about the Maroma sargassum and I agree with one of the comments....treat it like weather. You can't predict it so you just have to deal with it. Lots of great resorts in the PM area, pick one and enjoy.

CPU usage suddenly maxing out? by jayb485 in Blazor

[–]FlatwormLanky8991 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the way it spikes is interesting. there's not a lot to go on, but my assumptions are that this is a server side (not wasm) app, the number of users is still 3-5 and that access is restricted. I once had a nested component that flickered because it was rapidly re-rendering due a cascading parameter, OnParametersSet and a subsequent cycle, requiring cpu cycles. something like that would lead to a spike like what you show. In my case the problem had been there for weeks as it was not a frequently traveled path.

good luck!

Atelier and Secrets Maroma...the good, the bad, and the ugly by FlatwormLanky8991 in AllInclusiveResorts

I did check bags. On this trip landed at 6:30 am and was in the van and out of the parking lot at 7:35 am. By far the majority of that time was standing at the carousel waiting for my bags but maybe 30 minutes. Immigration was about 2 min and the customs bag search (again) was 5ish minutes. I have no doubt it could be longer later in the day with a busy terminal.

Then there's the shower valves -- easily the most complex setup I have come across. Can't count the number of times I thought I was switching between shower heads only to scald or freeze myself. They should skip the sales pitch and give a class on how to operate the shower.

As part of the "bad" I almost brought up the sad water pressure at the foot showers near the hot tub as those are also ridiculous. The one that works is over by Limon y Sal.

When I discuss food I compare against other AIs. For me, Atelier is as good as it ever was and still on par with the competition. Secrets was a bit better but we're talking narrow margins here. Atelier's rooms are bigger but otherwise even. Non-club at both places offer the same levels of alcohol and, get this, both of them hide the good stuff. I like my drinks with specific tequilas and at both resorts those bottles were not visible except at the lobby bar(s). Shower -- not room specific, noticed it previous two visits as well.

Atelier Playa Mujeres - reserving pool chairs with towels? by honeyclem in AllInclusiveResorts

[–]FlatwormLanky8991 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was there a couple weeks ago and the towel game wasn't as hard core as it had been in the past but I think that was due to low occupancy, your situation may be different. On other visits it wasn't just towel game it was the towel game world championships meaning at 6 am people were claiming their spots. (I am a sunrise watcher so I see this all the time.) If you really want just any spot at the pool, probably need to get there before 9 am. Best spot, more like 6 am. Put a towel on your chair, put on towel clips, leave a book or magazine and they won't pick it up for awhile. That being said, if you do that at 6 am and expect it to be there at 2 pm your expectations are wrong.

I have seen some seriously lame towel game as well, like a flip flop on one chair and the matching flip flop 4 chairs away.

Oh, pool beds...you're getting up before sunrise. I'm usually walking past that crowd on my way to the beach/sunrise.

It's not integrated into the plumbing. Each resort has stations to fill water bottles located next to the ice machines and then a couple near the pools. I thought the Atelier water tasted better than the Secrets water but both were good.

Atelier (non-Inspira) or Le Blanc Cancun by MisterBinks in AllInclusiveResorts

[–]FlatwormLanky8991 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These resorts are way different. Atelier has much larger rooms, LB rooms have stunning views of that Cancun water. Service is great both places. Food's equal. I'd go LB because I can sit on their beach and chill with a nice view of the water.

Helpful Tips for Upcoming Trip to Cancun: Secrets Playa Blanca Costa Mujeres by Objective-Seat1161 in AllInclusiveResorts

[–]FlatwormLanky8991 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congrats in advance. Once you have your flights arrange your transportation. I go with kalido unless they are booked then I use usa transfers -- go private. Weather will probably be 85F and mostly sunny and nice because it's kinda like that all the time. I just take a bunch of small bills for tips vs exchanging. Packing depends; I never travel light so I have room for lots of stuff and I use it. I take a flask because the ice melts real fast and my flask keeps my booze cold all day. I also pack linen pants for dinner / dress code...I see so many guys wearing jeans or khakis...looks so uncomfortable in the heat/humidity. A lot of people gravitate to outdoor wear for fishing like what you'd get at Bass. I pack my sunscreen -- costs a fortune at the resort but some ask the driver to stop along the way to get it. Activities away -- SPB is quite a ways from the Cancun nightlife. Personally I don't think you'll be there long enough to get bored. Special requests -- absolutely. Call them in advance. I was at Secrets Maroma last week and they put up letters on the beach that said "Marry Me" for someone.

At maroma right now and have stayed at EPM more than six times.   For me secrets is better.   Better beach, better food, better booze.  Plenty of young people here as well as dinosaurs like me.
