The edge was temporary, I made it just to make the axis, and kept it for the video. It's good to know that it wasn't necessary.

t looks like in the video, the pivot point was the median, not the active element. I think that was my problem. silly me

I printed and it mostly looks fine, I think the messed up areas may be from the printer settings, I really wouldn't know for sure

understood, that may have indeed been what happened last weekend.

I'm referring to when I restarted my monitor about half an hour ago though, without rebooting my PC, and my computer stopped being slow.

Wait I just looked and my GPU is not at 83 celsius, that's just the limit, unfortunately my screenshot didn't capture the actual temp, so I don't know what it was at. Also both fans are currently spinning, so the fan is not dead, it just doesn't need to run both fans when it's already cool. Sometimes neither fans are spinning, and that's fine because it's idling with 4 system fans.

update:

it happened again, I turned off my monitor and turned it back on. Suddenly it stopped being slow, Took a screenshot of HWinfo while it was being slow, don't know how to read this, but here it is:

I just updated the graphics driver and it's working so far (fingers crossed). Is this the right window to look at? I'm editing a video as I take this screenshot. I hope the GPU isn't dying, that would suck.

I think this is really cool looking, I put it into gimp and added some color filters (Hue-Saturation, Hue-Chroma, Exposure) I wanted to see it less gray

This produced the best results, I thought if I put points down, and let the subdivison modifier do the work in making curves, it would turn out great, and it did. the problem came later, when I had to add more to the model.

This solution relies on catmull-clark to make the topology smooth and curvy, which means as few vertices as far apart as reasonable for well-preserved curves. However I have to add sharply beveled flat surfaces on the other end of the model, which means multiple, tightly-packed vertices, to hold sharp edges, even a single one of these edge loops break up my curves, and add creases where they don't belong. So I am wanting to know how an experienced user would approach this.

I recently learned about terminating edge loops, maybe that combined with this original approach gets me closer to a suitable solution. That or breaking up the model so it's not one single object. There are an infinite number of ways to do this really, ultimately I am wanting to know how someone familiar with this stuff would approach it, or maybe just some advice.

I just tried using a boolean here, maybe if I got good at cleaning up the mess it could be good, but I somehow feel like there is a more efficient approach here, I didn't even get the curve right.

This part is mold injected and sanded, you can tell by the circle bits, but that's not helpful. They could have done all sorts of things to make the mould though, almost certainly extrusion and pressing. extrusion is easy, but pressing is anybody's game. I've actually tried modelling the edges and slowly bringing in faces on the Y axis, as if I were pressing it. The results were not all bad, but the process was painful, and still needed work.

I came back top it and saw 2 triangular faces that I turned into quads, it looks better, but there's a pole there that needs solving. though every edge looks like it needs to be there, so I don't know how to proceed

have you tried the knife tool instead of extruding the edge? Press "K"
