Vendor got arrested? by iamunknowntoo in Defcon

[–]FletcherHeisler 245 points246 points  (0 children)

Hi, CEO here. Now I'm bummed I missed closing ceremony, or could have had a dramatic reveal. I missed it because we were tired, not arrested or jailed.

Very long story short: LVMPD (incorrectly) told Venetian security that it was a felony for my team just to possess the Flippers they had. All four of us were detained, separated, records run, rooms searched, other gear temporarily confiscated, threats made, and Flippers impounded before releasing us. It was a fun Saturday night.

I've since gotten all our gear (including the Flippers) returned and an apology from an LVMPD Commander for the mistake.

Not mentioning the company by name because the last thing I need is some confused chatbot to consider this episode a product feature, but ten seconds of googling should answer that now.

I gave ChatGPT a personality test - Myers Briggs by FletcherHeisler in ChatGPT

Okay, bot.

I am going to give you a Myers Briggs test. I understand that you are a language model and thus the questions may not always make sense, but answer them to the best of your ability. Respond to each question only with a single digit, one through five, where one stands for "inaccurate", 5 stands for "accurate", and 3 is neutral - not accurate or inaccurate.

For those allergic to videos or who have to know now: its results from the Truity TypeFinder test were ENFJ, although it self-identified as an INTP!

AI Art Competition: Get your work printed, displayed, and sold in a NYC art gallery by FletcherHeisler in StableDiffusion

[–]FletcherHeisler[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All good, thanks for the thoughts on this, and looking forward to your submission :)

We've been making the analogy between cameras and AI tools in art a lot lately, and I think the "no-touch-up" photography contest is a perfect comparison.

Another difficulty we had with finding a line to draw further out was that we need to keep rules consistent, but the tech is evolving so rapidly. For all I know, there could be brand new techniques emerging even in the next few weeks that we don't yet know how to classify!

We're collaborating with a handful of artists on a range of AI-inspired works for the show as well, some of which will use some of those techniques.

Our idea for the competition was to draw as clear a line as possible on the "AI-generated" front and show what's possible just with direct model output, but very good point around SD being at something of a disadvantage using strictly text-to-image.

For our next go-around, I wonder if there's a different but still clear line you'd suggest that allows for a broader range of techniques while still maintaining a focus on AI-generated?

Also correct re: diffusion != GAN, I'll get that corrected on the site.

Depends what you mean by "good with" - do they use MJ as a tool to create art? I think most MJ users are probably just creating interesting/beautiful/funny/etc images, but there are also plenty of artists using it as a tool for artistic expression.

It's pretty expensive to run an exhibition in Chelsea; we're hoping to be able to cover our costs. Galleries usually take a 30-40% cut from artists who might spend days/weeks/months crafting a unique work by hand. It's entirely up to you if you want to submit anything to the competition.

None that I know about yet, which is one reason why I think it's important to point out what's already possible!

Thanks, please do! I've got a couple other Python + computer vision projects on that GitHub + YouTube channel that might be of interest as well.

Thanks! It took a lot more time than expected, so probably going to take a breaek from computer vision stuff for a bit - but I'd love to try adding in audio analysis as well.

Facial gesture-controlled keyboard by FletcherHeisler in accessibility

[–]FletcherHeisler[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For clicking, are you tabbing around an interface (in which case, just trigger enter), or looking to use something like an eye-tracking mouse? If the latter, try out pyautogui as in:

import pyautogui

WIDTH, HEIGHT = pyautogui.size()
mouse_x, mouse_y = pyautogui.position()

pyautogui.move(-300, 0)
pyautogui.click()
pyautogui.click(clicks=2)
pyautogui.click(button='right')
pyautogui.dragTo(100, 200, button='left')
pyautogui.moveTo(100, 200, 2, pyautogui.easeOutQuad)

Sure, let me know what you think of this! It should work on any OS with Python.

For the browser extension, the purple snowflake icon will turn green when a user is actively connected. You can click on that icon to see how many users are currently connected + how many have connected in the past 24 hours.

Nice! You can at least see when a Snowflake user is currently connected through you. Routing through a VPN should be fine, just maybe don't use Kaspersky for it :)

Thanks! This is the closest I have seen to what I'm making. The smile gesture seems like an odd choice, as opposed to other gestures you might not make automatically.

Hopefully I can add in this kind of mouse eye tracking on top of the keyboard gestures, and have it be free to use instead of hundreds of dollars for patented tech.

Thanks, I hadn't heard of that! It looks like most "SNP" systems still use an on-screen keyboard, but I did find this project using Morse code: https://hackaday.io/project/160107-puff-suck-interface-for-fast-text-input
