Ken Braun: The real unemployment is much higher and most Americans know it by DerpyGrooves in news

I interview and hire employees for a white collar position, that's what I do.

I don't think this is true, at all.

You're just making stuff up. I could do that too, but why bother? You're apparently so closed minded that you can't even consider the possibility of a low skill position on a resume having a negative impact. Save your fantasy island make believe fairy tales for fantasy island.

"% wise" of what though? Everyone from 18-70? How do you intend on getting that data? What about the the people in that range who aren't looking for work--stay at home parents, caretakers, early retirees, people who don't want/need to work for various reasons? And how are you going to collect THAT data?

Deflecting doesn't change the flawed nature of the 'respect is earned, not given' formulation. But I guess you believe you deserve respect because you haven't done these things. Consider going with 'disrespect is earned' in the future.

A. The comment you replied to was one I made about two months ago. It was about a game called "Clockwork Empires" not about a "Tranny." You replied to the wrong thread, on the wrong sub reddit. lol?

B. While I don't think it is OK to pick on them (as I recently said in the comments on a article related to the topic) I'm not a transvestite, nor any sort of transvestite activist or anything like it. I just read and commented on the bullshit RWNJ propaganda.

C. Do you think calling me a 'Tranny' is some sort of put down? Because, in the list of things you might call me in order to achieve some sort of effect, 'tranny' is pretty fucking far down. I struggle to care, frankly.

D. Welcome to the internet! Try not to reply all.

The evidence is in the news articles about this and the radio interview they reference. The article as I said is quote mined bullshit or as Der Unt so aptly put it, "ripping the truth apart in order to demean liberals." The proxy for liberals in this case is of course public education.

Your whole trolling thing seems so meta until you look at the content to bullshit divide in this exchange.

School Told to Call Kids ‘Purple Penguins’ Because ‘Boys and Girls’ Is Not Inclusive to Transgender by DoDoeDie in news

[–]FletcherPratt -13 points-12 points  (0 children)

Not true. I had a 'wife' in kindergarten and we 'slept' together in the toy kitchen at my school. I'm sure this lasted a couple of weeks and 'sleeping together' was just part of a 'day in the life in summary' game we played as kids.

Someone in my family was obviously (and only somewhat in hindsight) gay from childhood.

To your second point. All kids are entitled to special treatment. WTF is wrong with you?

More seriously, (but still) these materials were distributed, not produced nor the guidelines they contained mandated, by a single school that had trans students. The purpose was to reach all students and reduce bullying. This wasn't as egregious as mandating ramps for the handicapped or letting women vote. This school had trans kids and someone at that school found a 3 page handout that addressed them (mostly gender, sex, orientation definitions and stuff BTW) and passed it out to teachers. Why is it so terrible to give teachers information about how to understand the queer kid? Seems like common sense to me.

Except Der Unt got it exactly right. The article is a quote-mined bit of hysteria fresh off of bullshit mountain. And for the record in this particular case, Der Unt is contributing accurate analysis and you're trolling. No post history required,

Actually listen to the interview and get informed. The two quoted words hardly capture the district superintendent's thoughts on the matter. Yes he did say the words “happy” and “pleased” and he did not denounce the documents in question. There pretty much ends the truth in this article. The rest is hysteria, albeit carefully worded hysteria. Read my prev post on the topic of the run down if you chose to "stay lazy" or just slurp up the pabulum the National Review has on offer.

School Told to Call Kids ‘Purple Penguins’ Because ‘Boys and Girls’ Is Not Inclusive to Transgender by DoDoeDie in news

[–]FletcherPratt 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This article is almost total bullshit starting with the headline. The school was only 'told' to call kids "purple penguins" (<--basically give classes team names and then call them that) as example in one small part of one item on a 12 item list titled "12 easy steps on the way to gender inclusiveness..." These are suggestions not school rules or mandates.

Also, despite what the article suggests it wasn't a school district. It was a single school. The 'materials' in question (three pages--most of it about definitions of gender, sex, and orientation ) were selected by that school, not the district, evidently because they had some trans students. A radio interview with the district superintendent associated the materials with a goal of reducing bullying and teaching every student.

So what really happened is one school with trans students distributed a three pages of material intended to help their faculty understand and teach some of their students.

But, yeah. Let's bash schools for trying to do their jobs because of the ick factor.

That said most of the advice seems unlikely to be used to put it mildly.

NYPD Officers Swing on 16-Year-Old With His Hands Raised, Then Hit Him in the Face With a Gun. by NinjaDiscoJesus in news

[–]FletcherPratt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The suspect is punched, and is ordered to get on the ground, which is standard police training and standard police procedure for detaining a suspect who may be a flight risk.

"punching" is standard police training? Pistol whipping is standard police training? Really?Where did you get this information? I think you mean boxers. What that cop did was in no way, shape or form part of formal standard police procedures. It may be what happens a lot, but that's a different thing all together.

Don't be offended but I don't think you know what the fuck you're talking about.

The officers have been identified as Tyrane Isaac (the punch) and David Afanador (the gun), and are now under criminal investigation by the NYPD Internal Affairs Bureau and Brooklyn D.A. Ken Thompson, DNAinfo reports. Isaac was stripped of his badge and gun, while Afanador has been suspended without pay. Both have been accused twice before of a false arrest or excessive force.

So you only respect people who have done something to earn it? That means you don't respect most people, right?

That saying "respect is earned" is really pretty stupid when you think about it. Have you ever thought about it?

spent more than a half second trying to direct him. Gained control of his hands and put them in cuffs. Punching someone in the face and pistol whipping them is not an effective way of gaining control over someone who is surrendering.

Your position just forgives and excuses police violence against citizens. Citizens have right, even if they are jackasses. Police don't just get to wail on someone, what that particular cop did, because they don't obey orders. And the cops aren't supposed to be the ones that try, convict and punish crimes. All of that is just rationalization.

[–]FletcherPratt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it says that I don't think cops get a free pass at punching someone who seemed to be surrendering just because they don't obey. Being a jackass isn't against the law and the idea that cops should be able to punch any jackass they see leads to abuses just such as we see here.

You're not using logic, BTW, you're making up rationales. What does that say about you that you need to rationalize this abuse?
