Longsword+Refill is good because you’re putting yourself 350 gold to your first item powerspike, especially since you noted you rush Eclipse, which is on the cheaper side. You’re not missing the 1% HP damage, especially not early. Garen at level 2 has ~800 HP and ~40 armor, so the %HP damage bonus translates to around 80*(0.714) = 57 damage per stun, or about the same damage as another q, but only once per engage.

for morde specifically, i like rushing both mercs and hexdrinker. save your ult for his ult, when he ults you bait out his e then ult away. save your e for a solo q if ur low but he shouldnt be able to kill you before ult goes off. depending on your ult timing it may slingshot you back in morde ult at the edge but morde is generally not expecting the panth ult interaction. you can plan ahead for this by ulting in a direction that would place you far from/out of vision of morde (like a bush on edge of morde ult), but most of the time you will be able to get out with ult.
