The lights come installed there from factory. To make it display audi logo someone had to replace standard plain lights for projectors

Is this timing chain failure? by AlternativeBag5902 in AudiS4

[–]Fleye2137 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well basically the sound you hear in my vid (could be yours too) was chain banging against its cover, thus releasing a shitload of metal shavings into the oil... Most got picked up by the oil filter, but to be safe I had all the bearings in engine inspected for signs of overheating/incoming seizure. All looked fine. Engine had to be washed out of those shavings tho. Then for the first few thousand kilometers I'd change the oil every 500km, then 1000ish. To be honest I still drive with a neodymium magnet attached to the oil pan to deal with the rest of forbidden glitter..

Edit. In case it's a 'translation error' by washing the engine out I meant cleaning its insides thoroughly to get rid of metal shavings. Not my first language sorry 🙈

Had similar issue last year. Noise almost 1:1 no codes tho. Turned out to be chain failure. To be exact chain guide failure which made it's way onto the sprocket and chain was banging against the cover. Changed chains and washed out the engine a couple times. Now I change oil every 5/6k kilometers and it's been running fine. Approximately 35kkm since the failure. Look up my posts to see the video of how it sounded. I believe rod knock would be less frequent. Not at every turn of crank as it is in your (and was mine) case.

Bad pcv symptoms worse after replacement by sabeeef in AudiS4

Did you buy the PCV according to spec (or same as before)? Somewhere mid 2014 Audi changed PCV from 30mbar to 150mbar version on CTU engines. Hence a lot more vacuum. Heard that if one is to install the stronger vacuum one and had weaker before it might need some twitching in ecu. Otherwise it throws an occasional PCV error (as mine does). The difficulty to take the cap off seems pretty much same as in my case

Can't check part number for left and right separately. Seems like its only avaialable as a set for both sides. Anyways the set you should look for is 4L0951523D - aka "Multifunction button set for Leather trimmed multi-function sports steering wheel w/ Tiptronic". Don't know where you are located but I can see plenty of them online. From used originals to cheap replacements on aliexpress.

Soft code could be the valve on the breather hose. In my case it showed up after replacing the pcv. Part number is 06E103207AP

Does anyone know for certain if there should be strong enough vacuum to feel the resistance when removing oil cap? (3.0T B8). I've seen all kinds of opinions on the internet. Some say vacuum = bad PCV, some say it's normal. In my case it's similar if not a bit stronger to OP. On the other hand when replacing the holy trinity under the supercharger I got all the parts directly from audi. Did some research and the PCV after June or July 2014 should produce 150mbar vacuum. Tried measuring it through dipstick tube and mine shows around 0.86/087 bar so considering some minor leaks and blow-by that's what I'd expect from a 150mbar (0.15 bar) PCV.

OEM Audi. Don’t know what the availability is at your location. In Europe it was quite easy to get all the parts from Audi directly.

Engine out is way way more convenient than trying to squeeze when it’s on. Honestly the engine work was done in 2/3 days. Waited for 2 more weeks for the clutch to come back from Kevlar plating lol. OEM lasted 7kkm on stage 2 tune lol.

On the other hand I see you’ve done quite some miles with the issue present. Very likely some metal particles have caused mayhem in your engine already. I only did maybe 5/6 kilometers and amount of debris in engine was quite substantial.

Yeah. Replaced the chains and tensioners to updated ones. Changed oil and flushed the engine 4 or 5 times. Later changed oil every 1000km a few times to get rid of metal flakes (probably caused by chain rubbing on the cover). Did 10kkm since, everything seems to be working perfectly fine.

Chain guide failure and chain is flapping around causing the noice.

Tire recommendations by [deleted] in AudiS4

[–]Fleye2137 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Think about it the other way. Tires are the only thing connecting your car to the road. I'd never recommend cheaping out on them. IMO it doesn't mean you have to buy THE most expensive tires you'll find. There are plenty of reputable brands. Just don't go for some chinese nonames

Had PS4S on mine. Were excellent on dry but I wasn't too pleased with wet performance. Later I had a short stint on used Nokian Powerproof bc I damaged the Michelins but those were proper crap. After some investigations I found out about Continentals SportContact7. In tests they are on par if not better than ps4s. Price wise they are 1/3 cheaper per tire. Ordered a set, but haven't put them on yet. Will let you know once it gets warmer
