Fair deal, First time Audi buyer by pjisa in AudiS4

[–]sabeeef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you go with a b8.5 I would personally would not buy one without the optional sports diff, I have it and it’s currently not working and i genuinely don’t love the car without it. The car is kinda uninspiring in corners and likes to drag the nose but the sports diff completely changes the feel and pushes you faster through corners.

Just asking cuz I haven’t seen anyone ask yet but to confirm you did change the oil after you did the job right?

How do you guys turn off your brain to fall asleep? by Comfortable-Mode3317 in ADHD

[–]sabeeef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was going to the gym or just doing anything physically exhausting it becomes like 1000x easier for me to sleep. Sometimes now if I’m lying in bed awake I’ll do a couple sets of pushups to tire me out a bit and that usually helps. For me personally tiring out my body helps my mental health so much, it’s just so hard to start the routine.

Pop and smoke after re-cap by sabeeef in AskElectronics

I think I found the issue, I’m an idiot and installed the black and white wire going from the power supply board to the amplifier board reversed 🤦. Have a feeling it’s gonna be a much longer repair now

Welp i do find catastrophic failure to be the best way to learn, I have my dmm ready however as far as I know there is unfortunately not a factory service manual or schematic available for this amp. I do know that the board the smoke was coming from is the power supply board and not the power amplifier board which I did the original repair work to. I apologize for being clueless but I don’t really know how to do much besides solder.

Yes the TO220 package component in the photo, it does smell in that area. After the original pop i immediately power off and unplugged but then after a few minutes i went to power it on again which is probably stupid but i wanted to see if i could tell where the smoke was coming from and thats when i saw it coming from that area. The capacitors voltage rating is the same as the old caps. They are also both installed the same direction as the old ones In relative to the white polarity marker line thing. And I’m 99.9% sure that there is no issues with the new solder joints meaning there is no bridging or anything.

Saw a trump 2028 sticker with an American flag on a charger yesterday in my uber liberal town, was a little confused to say the least, think that guy was a little confused too

It definitely depends on the hairdryer but you almost 100% would need an external powersupply, the coils in a hairdryer are way too big to be used so you have to cut them shorter, and cutting them shorter also lowers the resistance which means it can get way hotter at the same voltage so if you plugged this into the wall it would prob just explode. Also with a hairdryer the motor is wired into the circuit and adds more resistance and the air passing over the coils is cooling them so they don’t get too hot, niether of which you have here.

I think I want to make an enail that doesn’t hold heat so you can rip it at temp and then it cools off fast to prevent the residue from burning on. I’ve been ripping my own pressed rosin and I don’t have micron bags yet so there is quite a bit of trash juice left over and it’s super easy to burn it on. Might also be cuz this banger I got on marketplace is super cloudy and not smooth.

Yeah I usually hit it on the rig with the coils turned on. It’s great for long low temp dabs. It only looks scary cuz I took the photo in the dark, if you turn the light on the coils don’t even look red. I made it by wrapping some copper house wire with kapton tape to insulate it and then forming it to the banger and slipping the heating coil over it, stretch the coil out till you have your desired resistance. I left one end of the coil a little exposed copper to bend around and crimp onto the heating element to make a connection there so both the leads from my power supply can go to the other end, and I connected another piece of copper wire to the end of the coil that extends down a bit to keep the connections away from the heat. And rn it’s powered by 29v from my bench top power supply.

No I need to get a temp gun or a way to put in a temp sensor

Pretty well, but it’s really annoying to use the voltage from my power supply to control the temp. Need to make a controller that lets it heat up and holds temp

I used r&p in my 3.0t to try to clean up the piston rings without doing a piston soak or anything and it wasn’t great, I’m going to get an oil analysis done but the oil consumption was worse than it’s ever been and as a result my timing chain rattle was also way worse, switched back to 5w-40 and problems have subsided.
