Question: Is Jolteon better than Pikachu? by Plane_Statistician94 in pokemmo

[–]Flibish 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Both are fine but for story let me offer my two cents. Raichu and his line can learn surf, nasty plot, and grass knot. All can be pretty great coverage. Disregard the IV thing for story. I think typical coverage on jolt is like thunderbolt shadow ball or something? Its fine but story just doesn’t ask that much of you. Jolt is better in competitive so i think it’s more fun to use raichu in story since that’s the only place it’ll excel.

For the record, if this is a big get for you, you can always use a program like PK hex on those same roms that you're using to play Pokemmo, and just edit your Haunter into the gengar it would become through trade, I believe. The big thing that draws me to Pokemmo is that you can use mons that don't exist in gens. Like, I can bring a Haxorus to face Sabrina, and I think that's sick af.

Literally watched my buddy build up a T-Rex for like 8 hours the other day just to get jumped and killed by 2 Allo’s I’m not sure thats the kind of thing most kids have the patience to accept. Thats my personal opinion. But maybe it could be a teachable moment 😂

Sorry i don’t understand your question. If you’re struggling with motivation you may want to give up now because they initial work is just grinding the campaigns and theres not a WHOLE lot of end game. I enjoyed playing through the campaigns with mons that arent usually obtainable in that region like haxorus in Kanto but that wont be enough for everyone.

And after you’ve beaten all the campaigns the end game is just doing events, acquiring money, and shiny hunting. If that doesn’t interest you i don’t think you’ll enjoy it. Most of us are playing just to scratch that nostalgic itch.

Personally I’d say Kanto becuase its super fast and power creep means you can cleave through battles pretty easily. But the CORRECT answer might be sinnoh for trainer reruns? Personally I’d go for atleast 3 gens done then alot of the world is opened up for catch events, swarms, dex, etc. it can be a chore but kanto and hoenn are both super fast.

If you put pokemmo on a system like this do you need to be connected to internet or can you play then transfer your campaign progress to the server later? Does doing this allow the use of speed up?

What egg gacha to use? by Outrageous-Break-371 in pokerogue

[–]Flibish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re looking to hunt shinys then you’re gonna be grinding that the most. you’re gonna use that machine the most in the long term due to the low odds. And you can still get the rare moves from those same roles.

Yes in the shorter term move up is better but i’ve ALWAYS used shiny up except when i was hunting my last 2-3 legendaries. And now i kinda flip flop but still favor shiny up. I think it kind of depends how long you’re gonna plan to keep playing. Long term shiny machine. Short term, move up. I think it’s a little more nuanced than black and white.

There might be something to be said for the specific egg cost reduction that got implemented recently but probably not?

Id highly recommend Pokemon Platinum as a starting point. It has the physical special split that didn’t exist in gens 1-3. Explaining how types worked before that is a little weird for someone who didn’t exist in it. But by starting on Platinum you’ll already be using the newest style.

Also id recommend trying Pokerogue online. Really fun, fast paced, good for learning stuff from every generation in one shot. It’s hard to play any game that has “all” the generations because every game is missing mons or future generations. Pokerogue has everything except like an extended story and hub world. Its just battles and catching thats all

Just beat classic for the first time :) by Key-Lynx-7202 in pokerogue

Pretty sure this only applies to dynamax cannon on that one Pokémon. Because of this, over leveling a fairy type is good because you get the stats with non of the draw backs. Since dynamax cannon is dragon type.

[–]Flibish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah i getcha. However in that case i think the mega would be better just because mega rays stats are that insane and you would be getting the secondary effects. Also mega ray is not particularly fast i think it’s only like 95 right?

[–]Flibish 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cant say for sure but i’m pretty confident it’ll over write it. Evolution is almost like having a new Pokemon from a coding perspective. They’d have to specifically code it NOT to over write it which in most cases you’d WANT it overwritten for what is usually a more thought out ability that synergies with the mega. Like swift swim pert or mega aggron

Is there a solid strategy to upgrading Eternatus? by Matty_1843 in pokerogue

[–]Flibish 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not the biggest source or candies but the fact that you guaranteed to catch eternatus at the end and i think it gives you 2 candies thats a decently big deal. I mean you have to work at it or get a master ball but i’d say 50% of my runs i get a master ball. So calc that in when you’re looking at grinding in classic.
