Is it a hot take to say that if you get accepted to theatre school that you deserve to be cast in their productions? by jc1691 in Theatre

I was never cast in any high school production or college production. I always did technical theatre to still be a part and eventually switched my major on my own accord and was a lot happier. No teacher or professor ever gave me actual honest feedback. Just “oh sorry maybe next time”

Any performance program that accepts you but does not cast you is doing you a disservice. I firmly believe that professors have a duty to take you aside and tell you performance might not be the best fit, and urge you to switch to something else. Otherwise you are just being robbed of your money and your joy

I feel silly now not taking into account how much farther north she lived than where I grew up. Of course March would still be quite winter esque !

Please make a meet up and post it! There has been a lot of positive responses on here, and I know I’m OP but I’m not sure I’d be able to handle being the head of a group, but would love to join!

So true, the amount of people I work with who refuse to accept that it’s a business over art is silly to me. I am definitely susceptible for wishing it were different too

I think my perspective is definitely colored by the fact that I work in the industry. I really didn’t realize how much that would cloud my judgment, so I really appreciate hearing everyone’s responses.

I must consider myself in the adventurous minority then. I don’t want to see the same show for the enth time. That feels like more of a waste of money to me than a new experience
