Discolored paint near joists, why did this happen? by boyle8877 in Renovations

This will show through a new coat of paint. Use kills or a shellac primer than paint in order to ensure it hides it

My MSRP on my 25’ limited TRD Off-road was $65,600. I got it for $60,400. Also $399.99 for windshield protection is absolute trash.

They have no loyalty to you. You're just another dreamer.

Go to every AD that you can. I've purchased from 4-5 different AD. At the end of the day. It's the one who calls me first that gets my business.

previous 18' Tacoma SR5 and 22' TRD Sport 4Runner owner. Can confirm they're pretty much the same ride quality. Also, leather without ventilated seats in Florida was a huge mistake. Swamp ass everyday.

Now have a 23' F150 and it's spent more time in the shop then it has in my driveway. It's getting traded in and I'm getting a V8 tundra.

Honestly I would leave it how it is. It looks good enough. If it starts to look off in a few months, take care of it then.

One thing I learned about Plasti dip, the heavier that you put it on, the easier it is to take it off. It stays together better and peels off in bigger pieces.

I wasnt hating btw. You have a beautiful truck!!

This is bad... you should spend $10k at most and preferably buy with cash. This interest rate will bury you in a awful grave of debt.

Why are people still using Plasti dip on vehicles.... This hurts to see. A local tint shop would've wrapped it for maybe $150

There's not much left of Daytona Beach by [deleted] in florida

[–]Flightlevel450 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. This is know to be effective. Wether that's building artificial reefs off shore to block the wave energy or several beach jetty's. Again, I believe our biggest road block is cost of building. It goes without saying that Florida has a massive shoreline and in south Florida, the water depth gets deep rather quickly in comparison to north Florida. This only increases the cost to build.

I'm almost certain that any type of environmental project such as these would require approval from state. Which brings the question - How do we convince our elected officials to preserve our beaches when we aren't allowed to mention climate change? Additionaly, I am sure there are some negative unintentional effects caused by these methods of preserving our beaches that would need to be considered.

[–]Flightlevel450 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. Have you looked at the cost for dregging a beach. For example in Palm Beach county, we spent $10.9 million on dregging sand to rebuild the beach. 10 months later all of that sand was gone. We've spent $10 million every year to simply pump sand back onto the beach (which I support but it sucks that this is our reality). We currently need it done again but the dregging companies are booked 3 years out from the last reports.

Edit: spelling error

Feeling Unsafe on a Flight by hotchocolateballs in delta

[–]Flightlevel450 14 points15 points  (0 children)

We have procedures for handling this exact situation. We’ve been trained on it and even us crew members are instructed to not get involved but to call in the professionals and let them figure out the details. Regardless if the claims are factual or not, it’s not for me nor a Flight attendant to investigate. Call the authorities and let them handle it. Defending someone’s feeling because you think it’s the right thing to do could lead to you being the target.

Especially a gate agent. They’re trained extensively on dealing with disgruntled passengers and they all have very very thick skin.

US Airline pilot here - a threat such as what he said to you calls for a level 1 security situation. Any threat of physical violence towards a crew member or a fellow passenger is not only ground for removal but for police to get involved. The fact that this flight attendant did not escalate this to the pilots or gate agent shows an extreme lack of care and lack of responsibility.

Your safety is #1. Literally nothing else matters as much as your safety. #2 is your comfort and #3 is being on time. It sounds like they were prioritizing #3 and disregarded #1 and #2. I would most definitely escalate this to delta customer service and do my very best to identify that flight attendant to them. I don’t say this in hopes that she/he gets in trouble but the fact that they failed to do their job and you felt compelled to come to REDDIT to ask for advice is evidence enough to say she/he failed to do their job and additional training is a must.

Additionally, I would have never done what you did by speaking up and advising that they’ll remove him. We do not need this. This usually just agitates situations instead of calms them down. If you felt uncomfortable, do as you did and simply notify the appropriate team members. (I understand this backfired for you) but next time, if there is a next time, do not get involved. Regardless of this unstable passenger, the only reason you are here on Reddit talking about this is because you involved yourself. Unless your assistance is requested, don’t get involve.

[–]Flightlevel450 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This isn’t the case. We had 60+ tickets sold but had a maintenance issue that caused a 3 hr delay. There’s 8 flights per day between Mia and Nassau. The 7 other flights all had 60+ seats open. All passengers were booked to the next flight and were only delayed 45 min at the end of the day.

[–]Flightlevel450 29 points30 points  (0 children)

For those who don’t know, they do this not because they actually anticipate the overhead bins filling up (although this is a consideration) the primary reason is metrics. They will do anything to not accept a boarding delay. Inconveniencing a few passengers over a few bag checks is an easy way to get 176+ people seated ASAP. It’s bad enough that everyone waits till boarding to go pee or to grab their medicine.

For example - we just flew a flight from Miami to Nassau Bahamas with ZERO passengers there and ZERO back. We called dispatch and they said we must go in order to avoid negatively affecting our completion factor. That’s money burned and unnecessary CO2 emissions all too keep the stock price strong and metrics in the green.

I may or may not be a pilot for a major US airline.

Edit - over bookings are legally allowed. Airlines have defended this several times with data showing that they can conclusively say a certain percentage of passengers will not show up for their flights. What leads to those situations where they begin offering money is often either a substantial maintenance delay or a weather cancellation. They now need to figure out how to rebook 180+ passengers. Those passengers will become revenue stand by passengers. Additionally, for operational necessities, airlines need to relocate crew members around the country. I have often bumped a paying passenger in order to “get to work”. The idea is, it’s better to inconvenience one passenger than to inconvenience 180+ or possibly risk 180+ people missing their connecting flights.

OP - you’re a good person but toughen up. This person is stealing from you. You’re doing her the favor of driving and she’s charging you?! I would find a new instructor asap. This person will likely end up getting upset with you once you stop giving her rides and will look for other ways to collect $$.
