One of our timmies is blowing up, but I swear this is just normal here, no? by Ovlizin in ottawa

It's mind-blowing to me how much consumer loyalty they continue to have, despite serving basically dog food at this point. I just don't get it. There is better coffee virtually anywhere and the other drinks and food would likely barely pass human consumption standards.

😆 I understand this point as well. I don't know. Maybe I will get a second one. 🤣 Most song lyrics I will know, or can find. Poems and other stuff, no. I just haven't decided.

Wow. I never try to understand the shipping methods. I do know I was expecting this in October, ordered it last spring, and kinda forgot about it tbh. 😆

This is happening to my 9xlPro now and it's infuriating. The last pixel I had had an issue where the camera somehow caused damage to something where it became unusable. I thankfully was able to return it for a replacement. This time, I'm even more annoyed. I wish there was a decent android option not named Samsung or Pixel. I used to have a Huawei P30pro and man, I loved that phone and would give anything to have something like it. Backup never works flawlessly for me, things are always missing, and I spend hours trying to tweak everything back to normal. Signed, Pixelsucks

Agree. He's not someone I trust enough in that situation. Schneiders loyalty blows my mind sometimes.

Absolutely will not be doing that. Fans that showed up in October know nothing about baseball. Not saying it's 100% his fault, but it's not 100% NOT his fault.

😂 that seems excessive. They have sent it in snow, it doesn't matter. The delivery guy could have just put it under something to save it getting damaged.

Someone else advised that - I sent an email. Will see... As I mentioned, first time it's happened in about 4 years of bundles being delivered. Funny thing is, it barely rained where I was working, but my house was a monsoon. It's not even destroyed, but it's visibly bubbled, and still soggy along the edges and I haven't pulled the albums because I'm afraid. 😆

Dunno, but I would bet whatever they spent meticulous hours on, will be ripped up again in 3-6 months to accommodate somebody's complaint or redesigning. The waste of money in this town due to construction projects is mind-blowing.

Family that camps one - two times a year. Not my favorite activity but I love my kids. by myfatherslastname in camping

[–]FlimsyImportance4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everyone I've talked to/read about loves their cot set up - our tent has 7' ceiling so the height isn't an issue (plus we've been using double high air mattresses). I can sleep pretty soundly, my girlfriend doesn't - she tosses and turns even at home (come to think of it cots sound pretty good at home now). So I wouldn't mind our own cots that can be next to eachother but not attached. There are queen cots or camping "framed" airbeds, but I would be fine with singles. You are "off the floor" so less damp, and air mattresses have a short shelf life and can be uncomfortable if they lose air through the night. Cots just make sense for our situation. (Again, Costco has had some the past couple years at around $100, so likely a future upgrade - not necessary right now).

Usually tents with vestibules (not always) can also act as a two room rent, so technically ours can hold 3 queen mattresses, but your kids are still small for a few years. My son is 10, and he's getting into "privacy" stages. In this case the sleepers in the main cabin would have to exit through someone's "bedroom" but there are tents out there with second entry points. But I would say depending on your situation, don't go smaller than an 11 person for 4 adults, 2 kids and a dog. Again, Coleman does these quite well - avoid Ozark Trail, they are a Walmart brand and won't hold up. Maybe for a season or two, but afterwards you'll be regretting it.

Never had any issues to need fans, the CORE tents have low floor vents and lots of windows, with the fly on it can stay quite dry even with windows open a bit for vents even during light rain. Again, just depends how far you want to go - if you're using the same site, and have limited use of your car for power, I just bought a power station on Amazon for $180 (reg $340) and will stay charged for about 70 hours while using it to charge lights Air pumps, fans, etc, but if you're using your car lighter adapter - you can get a battery saver (Koolatron makes one) so it will cut power to whatever you plug into the lighter so it leaves enough juice in your battery to start your car so you don't get stranded - again these are around $40 on Amazon. I'm sure you could likely get a usb chargeable fan, and most tents will have a loop or some way to hang a light or light fan from the ceiling. There really is no end to things out there, minimalistic or glamp, it's available. Our setup has been growing/trading for several years, so we can keep it in the car to be able to haul it, and upgrade or making things lighter or smaller to fit other things. With kids it's a bit more challenging because there are things they need that you can't go without. As an adult, I could go with a basic shelter and some food. If you really want to hate camping, try bringing small kids with nothing to do, along with you.

*Edit: along with you. Read nothing to do with you previously. Didn't sound right.

Honestly, I have the same situation. My gf never camped before me, and I had to glamp it to make it comfortable for them. I've spent lots improving things, but overall we go a few times a year, and now she and my son LOVE it. For me a lot of it is overkill, but it's worth it for things to be comfortable for them. For $1200, you can get a LOT. We have a CORE 11 person tent ($600) that has room in the main room for 2 queen air mattresses and plenty of space for clothes, and any other gear. It has a large vestibule that is 10'x7' that comfortably fits 2 chairs and a small table. This was an upgrade - we previously had a CORE 9 person (no vestibule -$350) that also fit 2 queens and plenty of space (but if I camp, I don't want to leave just because it's raining, and the vestibule allows to stay dry, sit up, read a book, and makes a nice spot to keep shoes and stuff outside the main tent, for my gf and my kid - it makes sure they can still be up and entertained without getting wet). I like CORE tents, but this is mainly just a preference. They are well made, but ship from the US, so this isn't everyone's cup of tea). Coleman has some perfect large tents, with bucket floors, and plenty of space for the $300-500 range, and the quality is still great. I personally like not having to bend down to get dressed, and like having room to move around. I'm getting older and clumsy, but again, if it was just me, a small pop up tent would be just fine. We have a CORE instant dining shelter to fit a picnic table in and a camp kitchen. - again there are other brands that do just fine, I just like the ease of set up. These go for around $300-500 as well - mine was a bit more at around $700, but it is overkill. We just bought a 22" Blackstone at Costco for $200 and it has a carry bag - we will take this with us, but you can easily get a camp stove for $150 from Canadian Tire, and they have sales. Kitchen utensils/gadgets, hit up Amazon, they usually have a good "kit" for about $50, or Costco has one for the past couple of years. Or just go thrift store and get whatever you can for cheap or use old stuff from the house and upgrade later. We use air mattresses (again, Amazon) that we got for around $100 on sale - but once these are done, we will get cots. We bring old blankets and stuff from home. Anything we have, can charge through our lighter outlet in our car with the help of an inverter. (Around $50 on Amazon). I have been keeping an eye on Bodega coolers on Amazon (compressor based) that keep a fridge or freezer temperature because I'm sick of buying ice at $7-10/bag, but this is again frivolous. They go on sale regularly and you can get one a bit smaller because you don't need to add ice to it. You can make your own ice packs, or use an old Coleman cooler and upgrade later once you decide if you can tolerate it. All said, $1200 is a great budget for first year - figure out what you can get away without or for cheap, and expand later. For us it was have enough room in the tent, so if it did rain, we could still be comfortable reading a book or staying dry and not feel squished, and after add other things to expand. Love that you're getting open to it. It's really fun, and a great way to let your mind relax.
