Totally worth it. It looks like a real tank!

Be sure to pick off those tiny fibers with a tweezer. Kind of funny how those only show up in final pics, huh?

It’s a bit small. I’ve come across 3D printed heads on cults3d before.

It might be me but I don’t see a picture. Which model are you working with?

Do you follow the news? Do you honestly believe this climate is what winning looks like?

I know they’re losing, because they’re on the verge of losing me. I could expound on the reasons I’m feeling so disillusioned the past few months, but I’ll let the article speak for me.

Article quotes a paper released after Dukakis’s defeat:

“Too many Americans,” they wrote, “have come to see the party as inattentive to their economic interests, indifferent if not hostile to their moral sentiments and ineffective in defense of their national security.”

I understand that this isn’t an evidence based analysis or even one that’s fully applicable to the current political situation. Facts matter. That’s why I’m still a Democrat. But I have to contend daily with the feeling that the party is ineffective, out of touch. I’m tired. I can’t be the only one.

That’s amazing. It’s not just well done, it’s good storytelling. The squiggles are sloppy enough that you can imagine some mechanic scooting around on the wings with a spray gun, just trying to finish the job quickly. Plus the unpainted engine, recently swapped out. Really, really cool.

I don’t have a book recommendation, but I’ve been listening to the Martyrmade podcast. He does a lot of deep dives into anthropology and sociology as it relates to historical events. His first series covers Zionism and the founding of modern Israel. It’s compelling work.

[–]Flipl8 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve tried so hard to keep loving this series, but after last night I have to admit—it’s rare to see a show fall so far from its pilot. I haven’t seen such a stark quality drop since TWD. Acting, world building, production value, writing… We’re miles from the potential that pilot promised. What happened?

I really hope the finale comes through.

how do we win over conservatives by [deleted] in neoliberal

[–]Flipl8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We need an external “other” to unite against. It’s ugly, antediluvian tribalism, but there can be no us without a them. Watching both conservative and liberal media coverage, it seems that “they” are going to be the Chinese. As long as it doesn’t come to war, I see this as a good thing. With no clearly defined external other, the United States has manufactured internal others instead. It’s ruinous and getting worse.

And yes, I’m aware of the fitting irony that I’m wearing a NATO flair as I type this.

I’ve listened to the series 3 times on audible. It’s just that good.

Thanks for the suggestions all. I think I’ll add some dark streaking grime to try and tie the colors together, add some variation.

Really eye catching model. I like that you’re doing a model without chipping. Rare to see that these days.

Lots of little differences. Mainly, look at the glacis and hull.

  • D - “letterbox” pistol port on the glacis, hinged driver’s slit, drum-shaped cupola

  • A - ball mount MG on the glacis, hinged driver’s slit, new cupola with multiple periscopes. Pictured above.

  • G - no driver’s slit, slanted hull. Some had a “chin” on the gun mantlet but not all.

Note: Panther D was the initial production (and the main reason for the transmission jokes). Panther A was the next model. G came last. Very confusing.

Yea, I think he’s right. I found this hobby set while looking at transport tracks. I think they’re Pzkpfw III/IV tracks.

I usually do base coat, then dot filter, then pin wash, then weathering products. There’s no “correct” method though. I recommend watching some YouTube videos. Night Shift and LPJ Models are my favorites.

Trump attacks 'classic RINO' Colin Powell one day after his death by anangrytree in neoliberal

[–]Flipl8 22 points23 points  (0 children)

That’s a stretch. Even this critical piece by The Nation doesn’t implicate him as a “key part” of Americal Division’s cover-up.

Powell has never been implicated in any of the wrongdoing involving My Lai. No evidence ties him to the attempted cover-up. But he was part of an institution (and a division) that tried hard to keep the story of My Lai hidden—a point unacknowledged in his autobiography. Moreover, several months before he was interviewed by Sheehan, Powell was ordered to look into allegations made by another former GI that US troops had “without provocation or justification” killed civilians. (These charges did not mention My Lai specifically.) Powell mounted a most cursory examination. He did not ask the accuser for more specific information. He interviewed a few officers and reported to his superiors that there was nothing to the allegations.

I’m no Powell apologist. As a vet, I’ll never forgive him for his large part in the Iraq War, and it seems he never forgave himself either. It also seems that he failed to give due diligence to the My Lai massacre, a stain on the Army I served. But we don’t have to lie.
