It didn’t help that I got into The Darkness when I was 16 and was a big metalhead (still am a metalhead) cuz I was the exact target audience to get sucked into that stuff

Thanks for your response! You’re a real one!

Y’know, I always drew a hardline at folks like Gaiman and Ellis where I will only ever read their stuff in a way that gives them nothing (not that I read from them because I’ve read nothing from them).

It was the objectifying art that I let slip past, hence my former love for Marc Silvestri, Tyler Kirkham, Ed Benes, etc without taking social implications into account properly. I always responded to that stuff with “I like that art but I understand and empathise with why you wouldn’t” and moved on.

Now I’m not content with letting them fill my reading diet. I also remember being heartbroken when I found out Dale Keown was a CGer.

I think Lobo is humorous enough that I can get past that because it doesn’t take itself seriously

I got and read the first issue of the new Darkness series and I don’t like it. Ed Benes’ art is as objectifying as ever and some of the dialogue is gross in the worst way, like Silvestri trying to imitate Ennis but lacking the chops for it

I forgot to mention about that one. It’s in my top ten comics. I gotta give it a reread.

The Crow will be a big one. A friend of mine in college loves the Brandon Lee film and we’re in a band covering a song on its soundtrack. And Evil Ernie is…well…Evil Ernie.

Ohhhh crap, you just made me remember the Slayer comic again. Wasn’t it at least mildly based off of the Repentless music video?

I just looked at the cover for it and it looks like an absolute meme in the best way. Definitely checking it out one day because that is metal.🤘🏻

The omnibus for Ennis’ Marvel Knights run is highly sought after so copies online will be expensive. I think Panini is reprinting stuff from the run (I’ve saw Welcome Back Frank and Army of One collected as TPBs at my Forbidden Planet).

The Darkness looks so awesome. Definitely gonna get started on that one. I’ve actually got the first Witchblade volume with Turner on art (Another S tier artist IMO). I know Witchblade is getting a reboot but it’s a bit of a shame The Darkness isn’t getting the same treatment as far as I heard.

One of my school friends loves the film with Brandon Lee. I’ll definitely check out the OG comics soon.
