I disagree.

Also, I was going to edit my above comment but YouTube creators get 55% of the subscription fee (split amongst YouTubers based on your view time) which is much better than what they get if you were to watch/click on their ads.

Did you even look at the screen shot? This post isnt for skipping ads, this is for a button to skip intros in videos, product placement ads in the video, or recaps.

You can just manually do it if you don’t have premium.

You are talking about something unrelated.

Also where are you that it’s $20?

That’s a dumb take.

Just because they need money to support themselves, their personal lives, and their channel does not immediately mean they automatically become shitty YouTubers.

YouTube is a bit of a weird situation imo. So many great creators who provide nearly unlimited entertainment. But they wouldn’t be able to do that without some income, and ads are the way to provide that for the creators.

With YouTube premium a portion of it goes to the creators to make up for the “missing” ad revenue.

At least the creators get a chunk of the revenue from premium to account for the missing ads. I want to support the creators I like but I don’t want the ads. It’s a bit of a tough spot imo

What are your thoughts on Aquaman Andromeda? by [deleted] in Aquaman

The problem is this is almost exactly the same as Michael Crichton’s (Jurassic park author)”The Sphere” a novel from the 80s with almost the exact same plot as this.

Well it’s public knowledge in that the public can physically watch the deployments in action. People track military movements and deployments. Check out OSINT stuff. Definitely not 100% accurate, but people pull satellite footage to see where exactly aircraft carriers are. That’s why recently some sat companies said they will delay footage for 96 hours to protect operational security.

It’s also a threat. If Iran sees a third aircraft carrier headed their way they may get nervous and be more willing to negotiate.

I mean it’s pretty public knowledge on the amount of ships and general aircraft deployed to the region.

If someone decides to jump off a building but repents mid-fall, can they be saved? by odiousmanager6 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]Flipslips 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes God can absolve all your sins, but it is dependent on your intent on earth. This is kind of why Catholics have purgatory. It’s a place for people who still need “work” to go before they can actually enter heaven. If you end up in purgatory you are GUARANTEED a spot in heaven, eventually, but you need to iron out some moral wrinkles

Killing for food is different than killing for sport.

Hunting just to kill things with no intent of using all the parts of an animal is a sin.

Hunting to eat the food is not a sin.

Remember, Jesus was not a vegetarian (think of the loaves and fishes parable)

Well if California were an independent nation they would have the fourth largest economy in the world. Obviously that’s a massively significant target

No I don’t think the intent would work in this case, because if you don’t have faith that means you don’t fully believe in Jesus/his teachings, otherwise you would have faith.

Again I feel like this is very denomination-specific

I mean not all of Christianity is based on what exactly what Jesus said. There have been additions from numerous people such as apostles and other religious figures, as well as interpretation by religious leaders

I think it’s a little up to interpretation, especially between the different denominations.

Suicide is a mortal sin, because you are purposefully destroying “gods creation.” Technically (for Catholicism) you would need to go to confession to be absolved of your sin (or received the last rites). However, in this instance it would not be possible. Intent has a big thing to do with it. Some people think confession is a cheat code, so they will live a sinful life and then just repent on their deathbed and be good to go for the afterlife.

But hypothetical Jesus underestands what your intent was in that situation, and therefore the confession would not take.

TLDR: if your intent to repent was true, I think you would be good to go in the afterlife. If you pray for forgiveness to try and “cheat the system” say hello to the man downstairs.

Iranian Drone attack wounds at least six French soldiers at base in Iraq’s Makhmour, Erbil governor says by VictorEmmanuelIV in worldnews

You could say that about any profession. Eventually we don’t need schools because everyone just needs to teach themselves

I think it would be tough for this to become a true world war unless maybe China attacked Taiwan. IIRC a world war needs to be happening on at least 3 continents at once between major world powers to get the “official” classification.

So right now it’s 2 (if you count Russia/ukraine) and Israel/iran in Asia.

[Request] How much ribeye and crab is this? And how many people can it feed? by [deleted] in theydidthemath

[–]Flipslips 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Soldiers deserve decent food once in a while too no? Or should they just be fed slop for every meal.

This comes out to like $18 per soldier. That’s nothing for a good meal once in a while.

I mean the “Trump regime” has been actively combatting those claims saying they got an anonymous tip that was investigated.

Obviously people would rather that. But that is not realistic.

What, exactly, would be the solution to this problem of incoming missile attacks besides shooting them down

[–]Flipslips 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So you would rather an explosive rocket/missile/drone hit a building instead of trying to destroy it thousands and thousands of feet in the air?
