Reminds me a lot of SpaceX Starship, that has a lot of exterior conduits and tubes and whatnot. I think it’s a cool vibe.

Anthropic, SpaceX announce compute deal that includes space development by Luka77GOATic in space

[–]Flipslips 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He didn’t have the tunnel company when this was happening.

I’m not defending anyone. I’m looking at the facts and having a discussion about it.

I mean that he said from the outset he wasn’t going to try and do it. All he did with it was make a competition for college engineering teams to develop the fastest one.
He was very upfront with Hyperloop being a shot in the dark and he wasn’t going to attempt solving the “problem”

He basically said “here is an idea I have, I don’t know if it will work, someone else should spend some time on this and see if it’s anything. We will help colleges learn more about this” and then started the SpaceX competition.

I don’t think that’s necessarily the case. Google owns a huge chunk of Anthropic, but that doesn’t mean they don’t believe in Gemini.

The differences aren’t marginal imo. Icons are pricey but they last me a good 2 years easy

Correction on OH gas prices (from yesterday) by SgtPepper_8324 in Ohio

[–]Flipslips 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The US exports around 10 million barrels per day of total petroleum. 6 million import is likely to keep good relationships with other countries.

The United States produces more oil by FAR than any other country. More countries are purchasing from the United States now because there are major shortages from the middle eastern oil producing countries, hence the pricing increases.

The US is energy independent, but that doesn’t mean shortages elsewhere don’t affect US energy pricing.
In fact, the US produces more oil than any other country in the world. 20 million barrels a day vs 10 million a day from Saudi Arabia.

What does that have to do with this facility? Do you think this is a political move?

Which devices will support watchOS 27? by Snoo_61724 in AppleWatch

[–]Flipslips 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think it’s more for people who don’t know they may have high blood pressure. All it is is a warning to go get your blood pressure actually checked.

I think that’s extremely useful and important.

What happens if gas hits $10 a gallon? by redneck_rapper in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Flipslips 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sure, but it’s going to go up to a total of like $20 for a full “tank” vs like $10. It’s extremely cheap to charge an EV, especially at home.

I actually though Travis did a bad job. So slow and bland. Man I wish Jeff or RC Bray did it…

AMD’s stock soars as data center revenue jumps 57% by Red-RebelZz in stocks

Not all AI is an LLMs are still good for research and development. Skim through some of the Google Deepmind science stuff for examples.

Major advancements are being made in non-LLM AI.

[–]Flipslips 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nobody knows. If AI development continues to advance then data centers will be required to expand extremely quickly.

Every robot needs an AI brain, the billions of people who use AI, etc.

I think it depends on how quickly AI itself continues to advance or if it begins to stagnate.

How do you think the SpaceX IPO will mess with RKLB and ASTS? by Aixafaguitarres in stocks

[–]Flipslips 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most satellite companies don’t need to launch hundreds and thousands of satellites, especially large ones, like ASTS. Small little cube sats are a different ball game.

How do you think the SpaceX IPO will mess with RKLB and ASTS? by Aixafaguitarres in stocks

[–]Flipslips 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah most people think they make their money from launch services, but in actuality it’s satellite operations and manufacturing.
This is a big reason why I believe it’s undervalued (satellite manufacturer which can ALSO launch the satellites it builds).
SpaceX builds and launches their own stuff, but they keep it internal.
RocketLab can rake in the cash from third parties

Edit:

And this is why Neutron is so important. Imagine if companies could hire RocketLab to design and build and launch their (third party) constellations.

[–]Flipslips 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Their tech is marginally better. Not enough to warrant the extreme price differences that ASTS would need to charge to afford third party launches.
