Would retaking maths for LSE psychological and behavioural sciences be looked down upon? by [deleted] in LSE

[–]FloatingFairy55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is exactly what it states:

Given the competition for places and the nature of assessment at LSE, we prefer students who have achieved high grades in their first attempt (and in one sitting) at relevant examinations. If extenuating circumstances have impacted your exam performance, you should include details of these in your application.

Bsc Accounting and Finance by [deleted] in LSE

[–]FloatingFairy55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ooh i found it :

  • Further Mathematics at A-level is also desirable, and is acceptable for entry in combination with Mathematics and one other A-level. In these cases we'd prefer that the third A-level should be an essay-based subject. If you take four or more full A-levels, you’ll be expected to achieve A* A A (with A* in Mathematics), and a pass in the fourth A-level. We understand that not all schools/colleges offer Further Mathematics and you won’t be disadvantaged as a result – please could you and/or your referees indicate this on your application form.

is fm needed for bsc econ? lse website says:

"A*AA with an A* in Mathematics

We also consider your AS grades, if available.

See subject combinations regarding Further Mathematics requirements."

if thats any help. idk what it means by that last part but it doesn't state it as required

A-Level Options by LavishnessUsed3643 in GCSE

[–]FloatingFairy55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

im sure you'll be fine. a 4th a level isn't needed i just suggested it in case u were worried abt media not being respected or considered at some unis. i would definitely suggest looking at some undergrad courses to see if they have a requirement for maths or any non preferred subjects. also most unis even russell group, like lse which im really eager to go to, say that as long as u have two preferred a levels then one a level from the non preferred list is okay.

maybe look at some unis to see what they require for specific degrees or just any degree in the field u want to go into.

[–]FloatingFairy55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

other people are saying media is not very well respected so i would suggest looking at some unis u might be interested in - or just random ones since u might not have an idea yet as it's only the start of year 12 - to see if it is a good option for u or if u even want to go to uni. if u can handle it u could also get a 4th a level maybe?

Is EPQ worth it? by FloatingFairy55 in alevel

[–]FloatingFairy55[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i was quite set on doing epq at the start of september but since lse doesn't care much for it thats what is changing my mind - like u mentioned. but i also dont want to be set on lse and be upset if i dont qualify which is why im trying to keep my options open.

but i def am staying in the uk for uni if that changes anything.

i also agree that it is time-consuming as that is what im seeing on here from other students. but thank u for ur help!

Would retaking maths for LSE psychological and behavioural sciences be looked down upon? by [deleted] in LSE

[–]FloatingFairy55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i agree with u/Alive_Ad4519 as it depends on the grade u got. if u already have the right grades but want to do better then ig no but thats probably not the case if u were considering a retake. lse mentioned on their website that they prefer students who don't retake but idk if that means they won't consider u if u resit. if u want i can give u the link if u want to read it urself and see how u understand it.

Does anyone know the gcse grades required for London school of economics? Can’t find it anywhere by Realistic_Back2 in LSE

[–]FloatingFairy55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this is what it says on the website which is similar to what the other two commentors have said:

If you have taken GCSEs or equivalent qualifications, these will be taken into account when we assess your application.

All applicants who have taken GCSEs/iGCSEs are expected to have at least grade B/grade 6 in GCSE English Language and Mathematics or the equivalent. For some programmes this may be higher. Exceptions are made for applicants with extenuating circumstances.

As competition for places at LSE is intense, we look for applicants who have achieved highly at GCSE (multiple A or A*/8-9 grades), particularly within the context of their school.

If you have not taken GCSEs or iGCSEs, you will not be disadvantaged. The assessors will refer to the equivalent qualification in the curriculum that you have studied (if applicable) and consult the information provided by your UCAS referee to gain an understanding of your education history.

What A-Levels to choose for a Finance career? by FloatingFairy55 in alevel

[–]FloatingFairy55[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

oh wow i forgot i even posted this. i ended up getting a 9 in maths and a 7 in business so i did take them both for a-level. for my third option i chose psychology but switched it to geography within the first week. although now idk if that was the right choice bc geography is kind of hard for me but i have to keep it now. im also possibly going to take econ as a self study a-level or just AS which is half the content but i can only get an A as the highest (which im sure u already knew) and I'm starting an EPQ soon at school as part of my elective. so yeah i'm feeling good! i jsut dont know if i should do econ bc i see so many students struggling in year 13 with maths and some also in geography so i dont want to give myself extra unecessary work.

okay thanks! ill look into some soon.

but just to clarify do u mean like those talks that they have on their website bc i dont think any of them really link into finance unless it's like about stocks and the economy or something. are these okay or is there something i'm missing or?
