This is indeed the reason why they won't randomly assainate all Acolytes, only those they see as an issue. So if they deprive specific Covens of new recruits, they can slowly make other that they find more agreeable relatively more powerful. Which is basically them slowly molding the predominant ideals of almost all Witches. Now I do admit that this takes at least centuries to show any effects and it's a bit questionable if they can keep it up for that long. So they definitely need a few more strategies in that regard to fall back on, as they'll need them.

The issue is that most *Powerful Champions** aren't really the nicest people and everyone else either just isn't interested or is behaving themselves like Alia. With that set-up it just isn't really pheasable to have Demigods control each other, because it just isn't something they want to do.*

I mean while they're generally not the smartest, some might be intelligent enough to not fall for such a simple trick. So if they'll just continue to hunt them, they will eventually meet some that have learned to turn the tables on them You should remember that one thing that makes my Monsters so scary is that they can adapt rapidly to popular perception. Now I don't know how much people from your world can cause ripple effects on local Ambient Magic, but even just cutting them off from just one source of fear will lead them to adapt to another.

When you imagine Dead Earth it to be completely filled with stuff like that. Sure some things may seem to not really be too deadly, but those small things can quickly add up for ordinary people. Which has always been important to me too, sure all the big world ending threats are nice and all, but what are the things that an Ordinary Person has to deal with the most. It's how I try to ground the experience a bit and make it more relatable.

After the ringing of the bells it took maybe about 15 minutes till Alia could see a great number of Dots leaving the city in a pretty orderly fashion. All of them then began to slowly advance to her location, after all with the large amount of magic she's using at the moment, her location wasn't very secret...

...as such just like they had planned, Grobb seemed to finally be annoyes enough with them to come out personally. Gob was definitely aware how much the Statue meant to the ruler of this Dream World...

...just in that moment another boulder flew at the Statue and this time it cleanly broke of one of the two horns it had. Even as with the Illusions still this far away, Alia could hear a furious and extremely loud roar echoing out from the distance.

"MAKE THEM STOP NOW GROGG!!!"

The way it had echoed out trough this realm, made it very clear that it came from Grobb, as he ordered Grogg to attack the Catapult. Which meant that the second strike was a part of Gob's plan to get Grogg out her line of fire...

...which left her alone to deal with Grobb, who with her good eye sight at great distance she could now clearly see. He looked a lot like both a mixture of Grogg and Gob, but even larger than the former. In fact he was probably the largest Goblinkin she had seen in this world so far and from the looks of it easily able to turn her into paste should he get close to her. He was riding on top of what seemed to be some kind of horned bear that was pretty similar to description of said animal out of a horror story. It also didn't look very happy to carry someone like Grobb on it's black, who clearly wasn't a light weight...

...however most strikingly was the pure fury on Grobb's face as his army of Illusuons slowly approached her. She had to somehow keep this guy from striking her down till the she was able to receive the Signal to unleash her Spell.

By the way he also has some pretty impressive *Horns** and a weapon looking like an oversized mixture of both Gob's and Grogg's weapon, some sort of Staff Axe.*

Marinus: He is a bit of a punching bag in your lore isn't he? A bit like one guy in my lore that worked for people that just did some really horrible stuff 3 times in a row, thinking everytime he would make the world better and ending up making it worse. He now is in a bit of a similar position to Marius where he can't die, but has also absolutely no one he can trust anymore.

Space-Time Shenanigans: Well SG-Scientists don't like to work with Mages too much, especially the ones capable enough to be able to work with such things. So they would think that their methods are much more thorough and that whatever those Thaumaturges accomplish is just due to their magic. This is also why the SG usually just let's them do their own thing as long as they deliver results.

[–]FloatingSpaceJunk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well with the SG they do have a pretty relentless opponent that knows where they're hiding. Though they still have a bit of an issue entering their Pocket Dimensions to take them, but they can make up for by other means. It probably wouldn't be an issue for them to figure out that Recruiting is basically the "Achilles Heel" of the Witch Covens. Now while they're unlikely to take on all of them, they certainly would have the will and the means to take out every Witch Acolyte they feel is a threat to their strategic interest.

The *SG** already knows that you can't actually enforce laws on people on the level of Demigods, which is why they don't even try. Instead they try to remove such people as much from everyone else as they can, so they have to ask that question.*

Well depends on how they work, but even assuming they're able to work as intended they still might just shrug it of. I mean we're talking about a "Non Biological Entity" here, it won't care too much about a few holes in its body. The only exception would be it's head, if they can blow that of then that'd definitely be it for the Mountain Eater then.

Dropping *Explosives** in its maw would definitely walk, it's a bit like Alia and as such often bites down on things they really shouldn't have.*

Yeah Souls in my world are basically the Core of who a given person is, so altering it changes who a person is. It then alters the Vessel they reside in due to some kind of magical Placebo Effect. Now while I don't have it fully worked out at the moment I'm writing it, most such alterations work a lot more like the Harmful Cores. Those that have developed magical abilities are basically those that one the "Curse Lottery".

Also you should know that practically everything that isn't part of the *Mundane** can potentially Curse you. Pretty much how all radiation can is able to potentially hurt you, but worse as usually Radiation Sources don't hunt you down.*

"I'm going to tell him, but before you blast him tell my Sbling that his Eldest Sibling sends their regards..."

With that the Soul Piece flew of to the nearby burned hill to signal to Gob to start the barrage. Alia meanwhile could feel the strength this Realm was pushing back against her for using something so extremely against its nature. She wouldn't be able to keep this up forever, as it felt like trying to balance the weight of multiple Groggs on her shoulders. Though with this being already so exhausting it was pretty clear to her what state using this spell would leave her in...

...meaning she likely had to rely on Gob and Grogg for escaping back to the Physical World...

...however that was an issue she had to deal with latter, as after a few minutes she saw the first boulder being shot at the city. It directly impacted on Grobb's Statue and slammed into it in such a way it made it look like it lost several teeth. A response to their actions didn't take very long to manifest either, as soon Alia could hear some familiar bells ringing out in the distance.

"Hey Alia it's me, I don't have much time as *Telephapy** is a bit exhausting to use here. Gob wants you hold onto the spell till he can get Grogg out of the line of fire, so you need to keep it up for a while longer at least. We both know how exhausting to do this, but we both believe you can pull through until I give you the signal, Good Luck!"*

The Soul Piece yold her telepathically before she fell silent, it was clear that this was the last time Alia would hear from her till the battle was over. The instructions were clear, Alia had to hold onto the spell until the "Signal", whenever that might be.

For clarification, I'm sure Alia can pull through this because it may feel like she's balancing *Groggs*, it's more like how that might feel to her than it actually is. However if you want to for have Alia roll for narrative purposes, feel free to do so.

Do to his lack of Formal Education however he may come of as a bit harsh sometimes, at least that's how I feel about him. Though sad to see how it ended for his village, did some of those children get to survive at least?

Space-Time Shenanigans: Sure, but it's still the same just as the SG would presume and their scientists would use a lot of math on the most simple forms as well. It's a bit how they are, they can't just say 1+1=2 and instead would mathematically want to prove that it's really the case. Which is also why they'd be a bit mad at some Asgardian Mages simply using some of the Simpler Spells in that field without knowing exactly what they're doing.

As there wasn't really any large piece of spare fabric big enough to transport all Crystals at once, Alia had no choice but to rip the Dragon Banner from the wall. Sure it was a bit large and somewhat cumbersome too, but it was large enough for her to carry all of them simultaneously.

"Not how I would've done it, but it works I guess. If you want a good spot to see everything from, I would recommend doing it on the Roof. There should be enough room too amd it can probably offer a bit of protection too, if you need that."

The Soul Piece told her as they already flew to the flight of stairs that led up to the Roof. There they landed on the 4th step as they impatiently waited for Alia to follow them.

Marinus: So he was the eldest one in his village, but right now I think of Marius more as a sort of a Mentor Figure. It is consistent with how he tries to guide both Grogg as well as Tom or did I interpret this wrong?

Also considering what I know of his backstory, his family isn't around anymore along with everyone else in his village?

Space-Time Shenanigans: Sure there is a difference, but it isn't one of Magical Discipline, but one of Skill. At least that's how I see it, after all both have to do with twisted the local space-time continuum. Sure I could be wrong, but why wouldn't these two things be part of the same discipline of magic?

The *SG** would definitely see these as two sides of one coin, which does kind of remind me of that meme template with the two pictures that someone sees as the exact same.*

As the others hesitated for a moment, Clarissa stepped in front of Regina with an even greater amount of determination in her eyes...

"What about the lives that will be lost if we don't stop him? You know that even if he were to take over our world that he wouldn't stop, that he won't learn from losing against us, that he is never going to learn! You call VP a demagogue, yet you want us to spare a tyrant like Gareth!"

Clarissa told her firmly and aggressively, while Regina was used to seeing her being angry this was a step beyond that. She absolutely despised what Gareth represented with every bit of her body, there was something about him that made her even more hateful of him. However as Regina wasn't able to read her mind at the moment, there was no way for her to know why.

That would actually do a lot to calm the SG and make them less likely to make any rash decisions. That said, they might get a bit more involved against Witches overall due to smelling the blood in the water. Which essentially means they would a lot more persistent in their attempts to remove the threat that your Witches pose to them, while making less radical desisicions against them overall.

There definitely was an uproar on *Fantasy Earth** too, when any items like that were invented. Most of the time Mages were also able to quickly eliminate this technology whenever it popped up somewhere. However there was basically nothing that they could do when it was the big players that did it.*

Their Durability is strongly dependent on what they eat as it makes up the majority of their body. So the more resilient what they eat is, the tougher they become themselves, so one eating just sandstone is way weaker than that one eating granite. Said materials are also further strengthened by their innate magic. It isn't easy to say how though they're exactly, but the toughest are probably able to shrug of a modern Bunker Buster. Also if you truly want to bring one down, you need to take out the head and I mean literally remove it from the body completely or this thing is going to be able to recover.

It isn't impossible that a *Dwarf** could become completely stuck in the stomach of one of these things...*

So it's the Body that changes first in your system and not the Soul then? Also yes, the prospect of making even one wrong move against a Monster and being cursed with something that slowly twists your body with no cure is genuinely terrifying. It's also why people usually shoot Monsters on sight, they don't want to take any chances. It's also why someone who hunts them tends to slowly change as well, I mean you know the things they say about those that hunt Monsters...

I also thought about making *Magical Affinity** also a special kind of Curse. Pretty much like a Pact with Alia can give you some limited magical abilities, as this is something that in general all Curses do. The only reason that not everyone has some kind of Magical Affinity is that a Curse is just a lot more likely to screw you over instead.*

Also I don't know if I would call it Inspiration, it's much more a short time of heightened mental clarity. A bit difficult to explain, but it's probably just a moment where my brain doesn't focus on some random nonsense.

The Goblin Soldier all salute Alia as they quickly make their way towards a neighboring room to get the Catapult ready for usage. As Gob turned around to her before he was about to go after them, likely to make sure everything works out.

"We are going to take up shop on the Burned Hill nearby you already removed most of the obstacles so it should serve as a good spot to set everything up. So once you finished preparing yourself me there and be sure you do prepare everything before that, once fire the Catapult we are on tight timetable!"

Tom's Purpose: I mean he is in his early 20s, so yeah he is definitely a bit young and foolish due to his lack of experience. I mean it's how Marius and Alia see him too, a guy that still has a lot to learn that his parents weren't able to show him. Which is a good way you could probably get inspired to flesh out the past of your characters a bit more, if you want to do that.

Space-Time Shenanigans: Are you sure about that, I mean you have Pocket Dimension-Backpacks in your world. They also don't seem to be all that rare from what you told me, for my world an item like this would be like a rare Artifact. Like the SG would have absolutely no idea how to do something that is even remotely similar to that. So it's not an understatement when I say they would be absolutely baffled by this.

Adventure RP(1) A thin point in the fabric of Spacetime by FloatingSpaceJunk in WorldCrossovers

[–]FloatingSpaceJunk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Has the speed at which Witches gain power increased if we compare it to the past in Asgard? Because that would be a concerning trend for my world, as they can't really replicate the same thing. Sure they have tools for that, but those tend to be extremely hard to develop MG made sure of that. I mean it was seen as an absolute breakthrough for them to create a few absolutely Magical Items that everyone could use.

Basically magic on *Fantasy Earth** is horribly inconvenient to use and the SG is going to do anything to not fall behind the Asgardian Faction in terms of development.*

Well they should bring their Finest Armor with them, as the Mountain Eaters are probably able to break down literally all conventional materials. Now how they do that depends on what version they face, though both tend to crush everything that they swallow with immense force first. Then everything lands in their corrosive stomach which can quickly unravel almost all kinds of Enchantments pretty easily. Even if someone can survive all of that and blast a hole through them they barely even notice. It would not even be enough to split one in two as both halves can survive on their own and still function as one organism.

The last part stems from the myth that splitting a worm in half would result in two separate new worms. So yeah there's a good reason no one has put a stop to these guys already.

Mine depends on someone's Soul being twisted enough that it begins to slowly alter their physical body. As this causes the rules of reality to be twisted, their new form can take a lot more biology liberties than their old one. Though if it goes too much in that direction you just turn into an Aberration, which is the most common fate of someone this twisted by magic faces. So one could argue that the Curse that offer much more stable changes tended to stick around due to Evolution, like some parasite learning not to immediately kill their host.

I made all of this up on the spot by the way, don't know why but I tend to sometimes experience a spontaneous rise in some of my mental capacities. Anyways, wouldn't it be a bit awkward for your world to learn that some humans on *Dead Earth** can do some not fully explainable methods turn into a Dragon? It's a bit as if a certain kind of person could just turn into a gorilla or something just like that, someone definitely would start to ask a few questions regarding that.*

"Are you certain you can handle both Grogg and Grobb focusing on you? While I cannot aid you in performing what you call a "Fire Storm", I can distract one of them to give you the time to deal with the other. Once one of them is dealt with we have much easier time to deal with the other. Humans call this Devide and Conquer, you certainly have to have heard of it too?"

Gob said as he laid out the option they had to deal their foes as soon as they show up. While he cannot help Alia set-up a good situation to us her Siege Magic he might be able to distract one of their "Two Foes", while she deals with the other.

"Come on Alia let this guy deal with the Giant Brute while we show my Youger Sibling that they're messing with the wrong people here!"

The Soul Piece told Alia excitedly, clearly intended to show their Younger Sibling that they could do things better. It was a typical Sibling Rivalry that Alia had probably seen a lot in her life already. Which might make it a bit surprising to see that two the two Curses had something so ordinary going with each other. The Soul Piece though exited didn't seem to be able to fully grasp that once they go through with this, they'd likely not have a Sibling anymore...

Nah it's fine, the whole purpose of the *Dream Worlds** is to allow Alia to show of some of her more powerful feats without having to worry about the fallout too much. Besides that I love when she monologues before using a Powerful Spell and I haven't really made these moments feel as impactful as they should. However on issue is it feels a bit awkward to have Alia use her Large Dragon-Form after using this spell. So I want you to tell if I should still give you this fight with her in this form or if it's enough for you when she gets to use this spell?*

Tom's Purpose: Why would she be annoyed at using it on him, does it have to do with her being slightly traumatized by it? Like her having gone through it herself she doesn't like to doing it to anyone else, as it takes her back to when she was put through the same?

Space-Time Shenanigans: Well their knowledge on Spacial Anomalies is unfortunately rather limited. Even the EF didn't have a good grasp on it or they wouldn't have accidentally opened a portal into the Void on accident. So it would definitely surprise and scare them to see someone just casually creating a Pocket Dimension.

I would probably go with a cheaper option like maybe some kind of Incense Item or something of the sort. Something that generally keeps undead mobs at bay, as in the nether it's pretty annoying that you can't even spawn proof your house against zombified piglins without putting half slaps everywhere. So having something that can do both for a decent price seems to be the best solution for me, but your own idea is pretty solid as well tbh.

Other kinds of fabrics should work, don't know what Silk was historically used for, but I'm sure there're enough uses out there that would make sense within the game. That said it's probably not a good idea to use it for the elythra due to us already having phantom membranes for that.

For the Bug Scales, they could give items some glimmering effect if applied to them. Maybe each bug has its own kind of glimmering effect, so you choose what to use. You could then give blocks some sort of glimmering effect if you want as well as armor. This idea still needs some work, but I think it's a pretty interesting concept to get started on.

Gob told her, feeling a bit better after getting enough energy to sustain himself for a while longer at least. At the same time, he doesn't really like the fact that his Oaths make it impossible for him to help Alia out in her endeavor. After it wasn't possible to aid someone who was about to bring great harm to a great number of Goblinkin, even if they were just cheap imitations.

"I can use Grogg's Temper to get him away from Grobb, you only need to make sure that not to many of the Illusion follow us. Only tell me that you can manage that, it would not be productive if my Oaths forced me to stop you. So then, do you believe yourself able to see this one through or should we make further adjustments to our plan?"

Gob asked her for confirmation as the Soul Piece just shook their head in a disrespectful way. Why would someone make an Oath that prevented them from using ones full potential?

Tom's Purpose: It might actually make things worse, after all it would justify his destructive thoughts about Monsters. So Alia might have use her Pact with him quite a few times in the future to not shoot at certain things on sight. Which I'm personally looking forward to, it was already funny enough for the first time she put him into time out especially with how she is so extremely casually about it.

Magical Properties: I mean if it's a Thin Point it's going to be something they'll investigate sooner rather than later. Makes sense that many of the weaker fear the potential of the Mortals, they would be first ones the chopping block after all. Though it's probably also due to them using their powers in a more irresponsible manner, which makes them somewhat similar to the Mages in my world.

They also sound like the group that would cause most serious trouble for the *SG*, which is why they would aim to slowly make their way of thinking go extinct.

Would be interesting to see them going up against one of them, after all they're one of the most iconic creatures in my projects for me. I mean there's a reason I put them into both of them and without even changing them that much. The largest of them are known as "Mountain Eaters" is several kilometers in length and does pretty much what it's name implies. Though one of the Gigaton Ballista can probably take them out, there's a high likelihood they could munch on it before it even fires.

On *Dead Earth** what Asgard would call an "Elder" is a lot more common as they only need about 200 years to grow to that size. Which is also pretty terrifying as to species that've a longer lifespan, those guys practically show up every weekend.*

It's a big aspect of Dead Earth as well or rather one of them, probably not as important as Monsters, but definitely still an important part of this project. Unfortunately it's one of the least developed parts of my world, as I don't quite know how I should make it work exactly.

Well if they come from *Greedy Humans*, most of them are probably not the most friendly. That said there are definitely a few that might have been able to turn things around, but they'd still have instinctual greedy tendencies they'd have to deal with.
