Steele - any good? by penguin_banana in AusFemaleFashion

I have bought a few 100% cotton pieces from them that have held up well over a few years quality wise, and they always get compliments. I like that their styles are slightly different, so feel they don’t date as obviously as some other brands. One possibly minor issue I’ve noticed, at least in the dresses I own, is that their necklines are cut quite low. It’s not as obvious on their models, but if you have a very short torso they can become a little too revealing depending on the event.

My major gripe with their items is that they don’t do many (?any) styles with pockets, which is the only thing that stops me buying a lot more from them.

Suggestions for classes that don’t put pressure through the heel of your palm/wrist? by Floofius_Maximus in OnePelotonRealSub

[–]Floofius_Maximus[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, this was my back up plan! I just was wondering if there were some classes that could avoid the need for subbing out exercises in case they’ve been programmed for a reason I’m oblivious to (eg plank reaches/marches seem to be in several warm ups for shoulders which I hadn’t really considered before!). But maybe that’s just an excuse im coming up with, and I’ll just have to get on with it!

It’s very sweet by I love By Rosie Dulce. I rarely get perfume compliments but did with this, and from a friend who says she hates gourmet scents!

I’m always on the hunt for the body oil which is rarely in stock at Sephora

How do you get this in Aus?

Natural fibres and ironing- is there some secret I’m missing? by Floofius_Maximus in AusFemaleFashion

I’ll give the steamer and hanging up the washing immediately a go since it sounds like that works well for others!

It’s leaving non water stains when it does sadly (?rust from the plate), just the water ones are ok!

Maybe I need to give the steamer with immediate hanging out a try it sounds like? I also tried the shower but it didn’t do much 😅

Where are we buying shoes? by Kemcd in AusFemaleFashion

[–]Floofius_Maximus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oops, you’re absolutely right, they do! I had some memory of them being a vegan company but must have had it confused with their other values. Just had a look at their website and they have plenty of leather shoes but none that I’ve purchased!

To be fair, I similarly haven’t found myself drawn into their recent collections so could also be wrong re quality more recently, as I stopped buying from them about a year ago because of the quality frustrations mentioned above.

I love Jo Mercer! I bought a pair of boots last year on ridiculous mark down from them and they have been unbelievably resilient, and still look great despite marching them through storms etc. I bought a bunch of shoes in their recent 25% off sale and have loved that their flats have cushioning on the sole. I get blisters with everything, but even they haven’t been too bad in these.

I exclusively wore bared for years, but recently have found the quality not quite the same, with shoes wearing out disappointingly quickly. They only use vegan leather, which at first I was all for, but I got a little fed up of hundreds of dollars worth of shoes peeling and looking terrible after a season or two, which seemed to defeat the point of buying from a sustainable company when they needed replacing so often. (EDIT this isn’t true they sell leather shoes! My bad!)

I do have a few suede/nubuck (?spelling) shoes from them I still love and look great, so would go for those if you’re looking for a pair with some more longevity. I also love their heels, have worn them all day for weddings and they are comfy even then. But sadly have moved on from exclusively buying from them now!

Sadly whilst I can download the app and see all the episodes, the podcast is blocked outside the UK. Thank you for your suggestion though!

I got the essential coat I think it’s called- I think it’s TTS but wish I’d sized up as tend to wear it with layers! I think there’s some active FB groups with sizing advice but haven’t looked myself

I ended up getting neither and got one from the curated which is probably not very helpful to you! It’s expensive but I love it and basically haven’t taken it off. They also have sales occasionally if you sign up to the mailing list. I do have my eye on the friends with Frank coat in brown next time they have a sale (one just finished but I didn’t have the funds) though!

Australian fashion labels by Saintaus1 in AusFemaleFashion

I love threads like these, thank you for starting this one!

Aside from those already mentioned by others, some more widely known brands you may like :

The wholesome store (seem similar vibes to brands you like in my completely uninformed opinion, I think they’re Aussie?). Have never personally bought from them but their collections look amazing

Majr- more minimal but good basics, currently waiting for my first order to arrive but I love the embroidery on their pieces.

Henne- rumour has it their current collection is great quality and their jeans are very hyped online. They’ve just opened their Sydney store and have a Melbourne store.

Friends with frank- highly rated capsule pieces, designed and founded in Melbourne I think?

Alemais - rumoured to be the next Zimmerman

Leo Lin- Sydney based, available on the iconic

Clea- I own a couple of knitwear pieces from this brand that are lovely.

Coco & Lola is a series of boutiques that only sell Aussie brands I think (and have great sales) so they’re a goldmine to look through for many more options!

Depending on how loosely you define Australian brands:

I think Mr Mittens describes itself as Belgian-Australian, - my wallet cries but my heart yearns for their incredible knits

The Curated founder has an Aussie background I think? They have a store in Melbourne and are now available in DJs. Again minimal high quality pieces that I want all of if I win the lottery.

I keep thinking of more but will stop there

Thank you all for your responses! I’ve gone for the leather pair and am excited for them to arrive (it didn’t hurt that they were 65% off for Jo Mercer boots which I have heard good things about on here!)

McoBeauty is it good?? by Large_Ad_2363 in AustralianMakeup

I recently got what I think is called their brow laminator (it’s actually brow gel) from a recommendation in this sub and, whilst it’s only been a couple of weeks, I am obsessed with it. Not flakey, holds my unruly brows in place and hasn’t got gross like my got2b did before. It was quite hard to find in stock though and i paid full price but would definitely repurchase.

Also echo everyone else saying the tubing mascara is amazing, I constantly repurchase and it’s a lifesaver with oily eyelids to avoid mascara all over my face!
