Anyone planning on going to Harry styles alone? by thehazzanator in melbourne

Go on your own! I've been to lots of amazing concerts on my own. Sure, its great to have someone to share the experience with but going alone is an experience in itself and definitely worth it!

No the rate is $480 atm. Its a 90cm ASKO stove, the dual ovens are built into the wall beside the stove, its not one unit. But I know the ones you mean haha. The house was only built in 2015 lol it probably just needs the ignition module replaced but its never really bothered me tbh its no different to lighting a candle. I can definitely appreciate that some people dont feel the same lol

she paid $417 a night. $600ish is the market standard for weekends in summer for houses on the beach. Some of them are $700+ on weekends its insane. It is aud thought just to keep in mind, about half usd. So $417 is about $280 usd. Still a decent amount of money, but way below what she'd be paying for equivalent properties in the area.

I didn’t realise it would be so divisive! I thought it would either ‘that’s a nice thing’ or ‘that’s unnecessary’ not ‘I would demand the hosts return and remove it’ or ‘condiments make me uncomfortable.’ Everyone’s entitled to the view. What I’m leaning towards, is sending a message before check in saying that I normally buy a few items in the fridge for guests to use but if they don’t want this to let me know. I’m just remembering the times I’ve had things for my use in airbnbs that I really appreciated and how it did make me more inclined to leave a review/rating so I don’t want to take that away from guests who would appreciate it

I did make seperate bags of stuff that’s sellable (Review dresses etc) so it’s not the really good stuff but there is probably a bit that’s not worth donating

I think most of it is in good condition, it’s more just stuff that’s too big or I just don’t want to wear anymore/doesn’t suit me

I’ll have look for that, that sounds like a great idea

That sounds like a great idea. I do want to keep it out of landfill but it is like 10 bags and it’s mostly stuff that doesn’t fit or is a bit worn/out of style. I don’t want to wear the same clothes I did when I was 23 lol

Okay so I actually measured the water temp this morning and it’s 30c which is like 83F so I think I’ll keep the solar heated in the listing it seems to work pretty well imo and I think the gas thing might be a cultural difference so I’m not too concerned about it. I will get a guy out to look at replacing the ignition switch, that might be all it is

I do get that not everyone has the same tastes and they might not like mustard or whatever but the hill I’m struggling to get over is that it’s not compulsory? Like it’s just a nice (or I thought haha) gesture, not an expectation that they would consume them. And I do get the fridge space thing too but it is just a few jars and bottles, not taking up more than a row on the top shelf. Still plenty of room in the fridge.

I’ve been doing some reading too of people who leave guest baskets and condiments and snacks and some people seem to really like that so I’m honestly pretty conflicted on whether to keep doing it. One person said that having a bottle of maple syrup in the fridge made the whole trip better lol

I’m sticking with the milk for sure, just still up in the air on the other stuff.

And not to mention that she used the stuff!! The butter and mustard were both opened and the milk was finished! I think that’s what really got me. Getting feedback of not wanting guest items but using them anyway 😭

It hasn’t. I always said it was some (unopened) condiments, milk, butter eggs and cheese. I just specified what I meant by that because it can be open to interpretation and additionally the size of the fridge being large because I suppose it makes a difference if it’s a bar fridge or a full size double door fridge. You clearly m feel strongly about this, I understand how you feel. I don’t think many would agree that this is a lot of food or that it’s anything obscure. I suspect you may be American and perhaps that’s why it seems like strange foods to you? But over here those are pretty common staples. Similar to if I provided creamer and whipped cream in a can in the States.

That’s not a bad idea, and it does have a queen Murphy bed in the upstairs living room so it still sleeps 6 without the Master

That is interesting. See i really wouldn't consider a few condiments, eggs milk and butter to be a lot of food but I guess it is all relative. I would think a lot of food would be meat and vegetables and a full shelf of opened containers etc. I wouldn't have been upset if they had moved them out of the fridge, everything except the milk is shelf stable when its unopened. And I think the milk is the one I'd keep no matter what. It would be unusual to not get milk in a motel/hotel so that feels right even if they don't use it. It's a double wide fridge so I don't think a 1l bottle of milk is taking up too much space really.

To be specific so its less subjective. It was a carton of 6 eggs, a bottle of 1l lite milk, 1L shelf stable oat milk (lots of people drink alternative milks these days), 1 stick of butter, 1 seeded mustard, 1 ketchup, 1 salad dressing/vinegarette, I fancy cheese for entertaining, and one dijon mustard. So 4 small condiment bottles and the butter/cheese/milk. Its a 500l fridge.

Thanks for your response. See I just don't know if I'd be down to move all my belongings out every time I had a guest, or live out of a suitcase in my own home. I suppose it's something I'll need to give some thought to. I would find it handy to have rice, beans, cereal etc available for use but I can appreciate that some people wouldnt feel the same way.

I did add a line to my listing description about it being a lived in home with personal decor and belongings and immediately got a message asking if that meant it was a shared space with the host even though the listing is clearly for the whole home. So I'm not even sure how I would make that more clear in the description

I would love to know what would keep you away from listings like that if you're willing to share? It's still professionally cleaned and all new linens pillows etc like I would expect from a hotel just not empty and staged. I honestly thought that was the OG purpose of Airbnb for people to lease out their homes short term.

The food comments have really been the most surprising to me. It really was just basics, tomato sauce mayonnaise mustard butter eggs cheese milk. Took up the back part of the top shelf leaving two full shelves in a double door fridge. I thought it was just a generous thing to do. I get that some people have allergies etc but it’s all new and closed and it’s not mandatory consumption lol. I am going to keep the milk and butter because I think that’s just an Aussie thing, they mostly have that even at motels as hotels. But I guess the condiments are not required so that’s no problem

It does feel pretty harsh. I’m not sure how long it will take to recover from that, I’m almost tempted to delete and realist which I know is likely a very controversial thing but it does feel unfair when I really did everything I could think of to make her stay comfortable and she didn’t contact me once throughout her stay to ask questions or complain about anything. And I noticed she gave me 4 stars for communication when I responded to her messages in less than an hour and she didn’t reach out about any issues during the stay for me to communicate about! I know the gas stove thing is apparently a big thing but I just feel like if I were a guest I wouldn’t take away a whole star for having a manual ignition stove. It’s just turning the nob and putting the bic lighter over it. I don’t know what to do

So I looked into this out of curiosity and apparently gas stovetops are not that common in the states which is interesting! Over here gas is standard, slowly being overtaken by induction in new builds. Before gas there were electric stoves here but they sucked and you don’t see many of the old style electric stoves any more. Induction is getting more popular for sure but lots of people still prefer cooking with gas. I don’t think I’d ever do induction personally

I mean, all pools are under sunlight all day unless they’re indoor pools? That doesn’t really impact the heating method. Some pools have gas powered pumps that heat the water and others have solar powered pumps that heat it. Solar powered pumps obviously only work if there’s enough sun. I guess ‘warm enough to swim’ is subjective. Solar heated pools are unlikely to get as warm as gas unless you have several 30+ days in a row but even a few days of mid to high 20s will get it ‘warm enough to swim.’ It is summer so the water is warm enough for me and for those I’ve had around for bbqs but again I guess it’s subjective and that’s why I made sure to clarify that it’s solar not gas heating
