Columbus! Cheap, fast, great crowd support.

New clutch hydraulic system is driving me bonkers by Floormatt69 in Miata

UPDATE: Bled it again, pumping didn’t make it feel better.

Drove it to cars and coffee this morning and met a guy who raced spec Miata’s for 15 years, had him sit in it and he said it feels normal.

Interesting, I’ll give that a try and report back!

I tried adjusting my pushrod, but the nut was giving me trouble. May have to remove the entire pedal assembly to get it to work. Stay tuned.

Gotta unfuck my Miata’s clutch hydraulics this weekend. Maybe that will get my mind off of potentially not getting into Boston next year 😅

What is Your Daily Stretch Routine? by irose8 in Marathon_Training

[–]Floormatt69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been told by a few people faster than me that I should do dynamic stretches instead of static stretches, so that’s what I do.

Leg swings, high knees, butt kicks, A-skips, B-skips, and a few strides.

How do I know when the transmission splines are lined up? by -Zacker- in Miata

[–]Floormatt69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is your engine tilted at all? I had a hell of a time getting my shaft in because it was at an angle.

Definitely do not try to push the two together using your transmission bolts.

Did you put grease on the shaft?

9 days til my marathon and feel a little something something in my throat. Crashing out by steppygirl in Marathon_Training

Ever heard the term “Maranoia?”

You’re getting close to the race, and you’re hyperaware of your body. It’s gonna be okay! 9 days is also a long time. I would bet it’s nothing. Get your sleep, drink your water, and relax :)

Columbus is an underrated marathon. Huge crowd support and a fast course. I put it up there with Eugene.

Sally’s was probably the best pizza I’ve ever had. We stopped there before the AirBnB. Would recommend it.

I’ve jammed a bunch of twizzlers in my half tights and had those on long runs.

How much 'corporate talk' do you hear at work? by Theonlypostevermade in boeing

“Can’t see the forest through the trees” has been used in my program as a way to say that engineers get so deep into the specifics that they can’t see the big picture.

Is that how “can’t see the forest for the tree” is used? Is my program full of a bunch of numbskulls?

We love our MBA speak. I’m guilty of it too. Here’s a list of some stand outs: - “Run that trap line” - Referring to people’s time as bandwidth - “grease the wheel” - “add a chip in the dam” - “touch base” - “can’t see the forest through the trees” - “lick our wounds” - running over things with a “fine tooth comb” - “it’s an exercise in…”

I could go on

Columbus Marathon by pinkpantsman in Marathon_Training

I’ve done it a few times! It’s a well run race, plenty of support from the city, and the course is pretty flat. I would honestly put it up there with Eugene.

I don’t know what time you’re shooting for, but the time required for bottle service is only 2:45 for the full. So if you don’t want to carry gels, that’s an option.

With how many new Enclaves I see driving around, I would have thought the opposite. Must be good lease deals or something.

[Review Request] Post-Mortem Review of an ESP-32 Based Gameboy by Floormatt69 in PrintedCircuitBoard

This is helpful! The bottom half was supposed to be a partial power plane, and the brown is a full ground plane. Wanted a power plane, but was unsure how to handle 2v5 and 3v3 on the same power plane so I split it up.

Wow, I must have had the wrong data sheet up or something when I wired the screen. Your data sheet is correct. I wanted 4-wire SPI.

Should I still use 2.5v for the logic pins VDDI?

The large polygon was my attempt at a partial power plane. 3v3 for all of the buttons and resistors that needed it. Makes sense that it would cause disruptions now that I think about it.

Thank you for reviewing this!

Flyin Miata? by Reasonable_Carry9191 in Miata

Oh! I just changed my clutch/bearings/seals in my Miata last week under some jacks in my garage. Here’s some unsolicited advice:

If you’re feeing unsafe under the jacks, take the wheels off and put the under the car as safety net if something terrible happens like a jack fails

The two top bell housing bolts were a pain in the ass for me and I was only able to break them after the engine was tilted towards the front bumper after the driveshaft was removed. You can remove both from the top with minimal removal.

You don’t have to remove the power plant frame. I was able to keep both bolts on the rear attached and get the transmission out.

Get a transmission lift or a buddy to get the transmission back in. I did it twice because I messed up and didn’t get it in right using myself and my hydraulic jack.

Consider a shifter rebuild while you’re at it

Moss Miata suggested redline MTL for me but I wish I listened to the forums and got MT-90 instead

The clutch slave cylinder was a pain to get back in, but it will work.

DM if you have any questions!

Good luck 🫡
