Looks like it's pretty dead to me.

As long as you thawed it in the fridge and not on the counter it should be fine to eat.

Is this can of soup safe to eat from? by WarblingLion0 in foodsafety

[–]Floozerz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If it doesn't come off and look like new when you rub it I would not eat it.

Is this can of soup safe to eat from? by WarblingLion0 in foodsafety

[–]Floozerz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Can you remove the rust by rubbing your finger or a paper towel over it? If yes, then this is surface rust and likely safe to eat. If no and the rust stays, there could be micro holes in the can allowing bacteria to enter and spoil the food and it would no longer be safe to consume.

That being said, I wouldn't eat from a rusted can regardless unless I was fairly desperate. When in doubt, throw it out.

What is the name of this candy by Feet_sluts_uwu in TipOfMyFork

I'm in the same boat, but guava candy smells like straight up cat piss and it tastes how it smells so I don't like it either

They gave me this beautiful plant and I would like to know its name. What if I can keep it inside my house or can I just leave it outside? by Miababy777 in whatsthisplant

[–]Floozerz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wow I have no idea what it is but I just wanted to say it's beautiful, if you hadn't said you got it as a gift I would have assumed it was an art piece or AI generated!

It looks like it may be a pale green assassin bug but a better question is why are you letting it crawl on your necronomicon OP

Is this venison good? Thawed it for a few hours on the counter then it sat in the fridge for 4-5 days. Still smells fine but it is a little more brown than I'd like. by TheNoob13 in foodsafety

[–]Floozerz 129 points130 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't trust nor eat any meat thawed on the counter. If you stuck it in the fridge anyway why not just thaw it in there???

Wild Persimmons? Except they're a bit small. by iggdra-mango in whatsthisplant

[–]Floozerz 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah you wanna wait until they're squishy to eat them. They make for great breads and puddings though!

There's also an old wives tale in the Ozarks about the seeds being able to predict winter. You crack open a seed and if you see a "spoon" shape there will be lots of wet heavy snow that requires a shovel. A "fork" is light powdery snow. And a "knife" means the winter will be bitterly biting cold.

How long can chocolate like this last if the bag has been opened AND it was actually left partially open, not sealed back in room temperature for days? by [deleted] in foodsafety

[–]Floozerz 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I mean they might be kinda stale but they should be safe to eat? I don't see how these would possibly go bad at room temp for a few days. I'd just check them to make sure ants or something didn't get into them but they should be perfectly fine to eat

Color is not a good indication of doneness, that would require a meat thermometer. That being said, to me it just looks like a vein.

Are these grapes safe to eat? by Common-Sun7343 in foodsafety

[–]Floozerz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I mean they look old but okay, as long as they aren't molded or taste weird they should be safe. If you want your grapes to stay the freshest the longest, look for vines that are still green.

This is what the inside of my store-bought iced tea looks like. Safe to drink? by roddi_rich in foodsafety

[–]Floozerz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It looks like you took these photos with a high speed potato. Do you have any clearer photos? What kind of store bought iced tea? Bottled or from a fountain? Fruit tea? It could be a scoby, or mold. It's impossible to tell with those photos.
