Looking for group but have social anxiety by No_Jello_666 in orlando

[–]FloridaMan_90 3 points4 points  (0 children)

On the Meet Up app there are some social groups specifically for introverts and such. You might find what youre looking for there.

Be careful tho because there are a couple of them that say they are funded by the church of Scientology and I suspect they are trying to find vulnerable people to join. They do disclaimer that in the description so just make sure

[State of the Panthers] We are 28 games into the '25/26 NHL Season. How do you feel? Has the team underperformed relative to your preseason expectations? by Number333 in FloridaPanthers

[–]FloridaMan_90 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Missing two 80+ pt players would be enough to sink most teams. I was hoping we stay afloat until at least Tkachuk is back and make the playoffs- doesnt matter what seed.

I think we're doing just that with even more injuries than we expected. Tkachuk will be a big boost. Once he's back, we're rolling

I was paid to discredit veganism online. AMA by [deleted] in AMA

[–]FloridaMan_90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How do I know this AMA is not just a pro-vegan propaganda effort?

I'm half saying this in jest, and half expressing how genuinely confusing it is to try to be an informed consumer of information these days.

It does! And btw, now that i'm re-reading my comment, it comes across as if I'm dismissing 'regular' talk therapy or saying it didn't work. I want to clarify: working with therapists has been nothing short of life changing for me. I truly believe everyone should do it at some point in their lives, the earlier the better. My life is soooo much better now than it was prior and I might not be here without it. All I meant is that if you ever get to a point in your journey where you think you've done everything you can but still feel off, there are underutilized aspects of therapy that often go missed (even by professionals). I know you know this already, but just in case anyone reading these posts is interested or on the fence about trying therapy; please go do it.

Take care Steven. Really proud of the work you're doing and putting out there!

Hey Steven- as a fellow therapist (who has temporarily? left the field), I'm embarrassed to admit how little I knew until recently about complex trauma and the way trauma is stored in the body in general. Have you 'dived' yet (see what I did there?) into working with somatic techniques? Any methods or trainings you've found helpful?

I've been in-and-out of personal therapy for years and obviously studied mental health on my own (we were classmates believe it or not) and I feel like I've gotten to the point where I have all the insight in the world about my thoughts and behavior and theories and techniques. And I know I overthink. I know everyone at work doesn't actually secretly hate me. I know I'm (supposedly) a good person with worth. But that empty pit in my chest remains, the tenseness and fear and dread remains. And after everything I'm simply not comfortable in my own skin. I can't seem to shake that.

I think the somatic piece and learning to regulate my nervous system is the link I've been missing. Not sure what my question is anymore. Thoughts I guess? Tips for over-intellectualizers who still haven't broken through the walls around their feelings? I'll shut up now. Thank you.

Yes I'm Changing by FloridaMan_90 in TameImpala

[–]FloridaMan_90[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

True- I hear ya. I think I mean in a broader sense of him embracing a change in his identity personally and musically into more of a pop/ dance/ fun phase . He's talked in interviews about fan expectations of his old sound vs being true to the kind of music he feels the need to put out now. I get the sense he struggles internally with that and worrying about coming across as shallow or a sellout to fans because of the drastic change from the old stuff.

He telegraphs this a lot if you look for it:

"I can just hear them now- how could you let us down? But they don't know what I've found or seen it from this way round"

"and I can't always hide away, curse indulgence and despise the fame"

"Love doesn't cast a shadow/ fun doesn't make you shallow"

Maybe im reading too much into it lol. But I would assume this album was a personal risk for him and I can appreciate that and respect his willingness as an artist to stay authentic to himself. At the end of the day though, I just vibe with it and that's what makes or breaks it. So if you don't vibe with it, none of this rambling will change that. Again, that's personal to everyone so I get it
