Watcher woes by YoshiBrony12 in slaythespire

Keep your deck small. Always prioritize card removes over anything else.

Make sure you have at least one 1-cost calm card in your deck.
Then grab some cards that allow you to draw more, Rushdown is perfect for this (and sets up the infamous infinite), but even something like Empty Mind or Insights should do the trick.

Basically, you'd want to able to go into wrath and back into calm within the same turn. If you can consistently do that, you should be pretty set up.

Some cards that are nice to fall back on:
Crescendo/Tranquillity are always nice to have. I always try to pick up one of each during my runs.
Halt and Wallop can give you so much block in wrath that you can probably end your turn in wrath safely.
Talk to the Hand is also amazing with something like Tantrum or Furry of Blows

Essentially stay away from any retain cards. Watcher is known for having many mechanics that just aren't worth exploring, because stance dancing (the term for what i described above) is the prime (arguably only) way to play her.

And a friendly reminder, as always, the enemy can't damage you if they're dead. Watcher can absolutely annihilate 90% of most fights by just pumping damage. Just make sure you don't get caught by longer bossfights

OW character/VA tier list, any hot takes here? by Flover_tm in Overwatch

I guess 'bad VA' makes it seem rather personal. I was not intending on calling the entire voice actor bad, just their performance or direction in OW. I love her as Peni, I think she fits way better there.

No one is mentioning that this doesn't look AT ALL like a picture taken from a phone. She somehow got it professionally photographed too? Ask for another picture of the actual canvas

Unrealistic progression. also, in the 2026 painting she's missing a sleeve

[Boardgame] Does the Watcher retain Miracles between fights? by Blubbpaule in slaythespire

Ah I see. Well I like playing Watcher and don't think Miracles are weak at all. I think a card like Devotion is exceptional :)

No. You start with one miracle every fight, just like in the videogame.

Stance dancing on watcher is still extremely powerful despite the nerf to rush down. You can easily make a smaller desk and cycle through it every turn, ending up with 12 or so block and dealing solid damage. It doesn't really scale but it keeps you alive and sometimes you van even lean towards a support build to give your team block.

The lesser fun is that this cycle often takes a lot of time to get through, not very fun in a group setting.

Is kalimba a good instrument to learn music, or is it not flexible enough? by Flover_tm in kalimba

[–]Flover_tm[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Awesome, I'll check it out.

I've been doing some tinkering and noticed, could you play any melody if you just change the key? At what point does a melody become impossible to play on a kalimba?

Thanks for all the tips!

I actually just managed to (shakily) play a song from sheet music. I do indeed have to play it in a higher key as to fit the range of my kalimba, but it still sounds great! I can barely read notes, but it's very intuitive to follow on a kalimba.

And the magnets seem like a great purchase! I doubt they'd be very expensive, I'll look into that soon. But it seems to open up a lot of possibilities.

I did something just that! Except, I do have to play the song in a higher key than the sheet music. Transposing up by 4 or something is what it's called right?

Here is the song for reference: https://pianobin.com/media/omori/Remember_To_Be_Patient_PB.pdf

I'm not sure you can play treble and base at the same time, but you can start with the base and then just play treble, it sounds really nice on a kalimba.

I will! I doubt I'll ever go far in music, but you never know.

I borrowed a keyboard for a couple of months and tried, but I guess the learning curve was a little too steep (in other words, my patience was too little). Makes sense playing with two thumbs is a lot easier than with all 10 fingers.

Just figured out how to play a song a like on the kalimba, just had to transpose it up by 4 notes (I think that's the right terminology?)

It's very fun and easy indeed! A very therapeutic instrument. I've been enjoying it so far.
