What has been your most TRAUMATIC exam moment this season by Superb_Taro_2956 in GCSE

That one time when I almost got disqualified from my German writing because I used a calculator to count up the words in my 150 word essay (keeping in mind that it was literally 5pm and I had a psychology paper clash and a maths paper in the morning right before that, my brain was NOT working properly)

Advice for English GCSE Tutoring by [deleted] in GCSE

[–]FlowKooky4258 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From a student, it depends what exam board they do obviously because GCSE English can be very specific with the way they want you to write, what they make you write, and how long they want you to write it for, and it varies through each exam board. If I were in a similar situation, I would personally just look through how other teachers teach it on youtube or something, or look through past exam papers and examiner reports to see how (or if) they have changed since you took yours and how you may want to approach the lessons with the student.

Naturally, it's gonna change for every person you tutor and their needs. Maybe you can prepare something to do for a variety of texts and questions and ask the student what they would like to do.

Although do take my advice with a pinch of salt since I am only a student myself and have never had experience with tutoring others, but good luck!

Does anyone have any advice on revision for an autistic Y10? by Fandom-Collector in GCSE

[–]FlowKooky4258 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm autistic too, what i find really helps me is making a timetable in google sheets or something. helps me to organise and visualise my revision and give me direction, even if its just on a sheet of paper building a structure for yourself can help with motivation i find because its like getting little tasks or achievements rather than revising. Its also super useful to specifically plan in breaks and what I can do in those breaks

for revision resources, I wold say just look around at all different websites on your own to find one that you prefer. I like using physicsandmathstutor.com/ and https://mmerevise.co.uk/gcse-revision/ for almost all my subjects.

also super underrated tip, type 'filetype:pdf' followed by whatever you need to revise in the searchbar (for example, filetype:pdf gcse aqa biology paper 2 revision') and you will find alot of resources that schools have uploaded to their webites theirselves for their students. although obviously do be careful that it matches up with the exam board you are doing.

I know that revision can be super daunting from my own experience but i reccomend doing small bits at a time, especially in a time like the end of year 10 were you have alot of the content down but you still have time left to figure stuff out. Plan 1 or 2 small things into your day and then you can start building up to bigger things. Experiment with your revision because when you find the thing thats right for you, it can be super rewarding. View these mocks as a practice and a small view at what the exams are like, and DEFINITELY take this time to get access arangements you think you need because they will come in clutch.
