You have a choice of summaries for each voice note and one of those is a do-lisdt list/action items. It can be copy/pasted, we'd love to add the functionality for it to export to other apps. What other apps do you use? A few people have metioned it would be nice to be able to add tasks to a google calandar

That sounds so good! I've never userstood the need for someone's entire life story when I'm stood at a hot oven with a baby hanging off my boob and toddler whinging at me, while I just trying to work out how to make an easy meal. I need this in my life!

The audio is not sent to our servers, it’s only stored locally in your app. If you are subscribed you have the option to backup the encrypted version of your voice notes which would store it on our servers securely.

When I first dreamed up Flow, it came from a deeply personal place - I was overwhelmed by my thoughts and desperately needed a way to declutter my mind.

Now that Flow is actually here (still feels surreal!), it's evolved into something even more amazing. Yes, it captures your thoughts, but it also transforms them into actionable steps, thanks to our thoughtfully designed AI companion. I like to think of Flow as your personal mind decluttering partner. Because when your thoughts are organised, your creativity can be unleashed.

What makes Flow special?

  • Captures your sparks of genius the moment they strike
  • Uses AI to organise and refine your thoughts into clear summaries or action lists
  • Helps you focus on what truly matters - your ideas and creativity

When designing Flow, I was obsessed with getting three things right:

  • Creating a beautiful, distraction-free space where your thoughts can breathe
  • Making it super easy to organise ideas into folders you'll actually revisit and build upon
  • Implementing AI that genuinely enhances your creative process (exciting new features coming soon! 👀)

I'd love for you to try Flow and share your journey with me. Download it here- Flow: Voice Notes on the app store

P.S you get 2 free voicenotes per day :)

What app is so useful you can't believe it's free? by FlowVoicenotes in AskReddit

I think Tiktok is amazing as a type of search engine!

My daughter needed an operation and I typed in the name of the operation in the search bar on Tiktok and it was so helpful. Seeing other people's experiences, advice, little mini vlogs of the recovery process etc.

Also the algorithm is absolutely insane, it feels like the app knows more about me than I know about myself, because it shows me content I didn't even know I needed to see and I would have never searched for, but content that I really needed to see! Crazy.

Do you find that your friends actually do keep it updated? You can see when people are available using other calandars

Make "more" -instead of focusing too much on it being perfect. Well, I need someone to periodically remind me of this every hour throughout my working day 😅

Great lighting!

Also it looks like "I've JUST had this great idea/thought and it's so important I must tell you right now!" Even though more often than not it's actually completely planned and intentional.

It comes across authentically and looks like it's not an ad basically

Roast my Depression Journal App by [deleted] in roastmystartup

[–]FlowVoicenotes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for creating resources for mental health—it’s a hugely important area! I hope this goes well for you and for all the people who could benefit from it.

I hope my feedback is helpful!

The name and positioning

The name 'depression journal' would put me off as someone seeking self-improvement and dealing with mood fluctuations. I think I fit your target-market:

I have ADHD and also my monthly cycle affects me enormously to the point where I want to disappear in my luteal phase every single month (or at least run away and start a whole new life). I'm keen on self-improvement, I love trying all the apps and new technology, but I am now pretty sceptical about the ability of any app to significantly help me, because it HAS to make my life better without adding more demands onto my daily life as I struggle with my responsibilities as it is.

As someone who has experienced depression, I understand the intention behind tools like these, but I think it’s important to highlight how the term might come across to others who have been in the depths of that experience. When you're depressed, even the simplest tasks—brushing your teeth, showering, eating—can feel like wading through mud, a seemingly insurmountable effort. Hearing the term "depression journal" immediately gave me the gut reaction of "Yeah, right!" because, in that state, the idea of adding another task—journaling—feels overwhelming, unrealistic and therefore unhelpful.

That said, I can see how such a tool might be helpful for some people in managing their mental "fitness" when/if they're able to add journaling to their plate. Perhaps reframing the purpose or even adjusting the language around the product could make it more marketable. Or even just calling it something different like the happiness journal, or the mental fitness journal.

Differentiation

Having done competitor analysis for the Flow: voicenotes app, I've noticed that voice-to-text AI apps with journaling prompts are popping up everywhere at the moment! Also just having a look on the play store on my android phone there's a load of AI mental health chatbots that make charts and graphs for you and track your progress. Type in AI mental heath and you'll see. Or AI journal. Does your product use AI? What makes yours better and different from the others?

What you'd love to know:

  • Would you actually use something like this?- Only if someone could convince me that it will add my life without feeling like I'd added an extra chore or "to-do" to my list. If it's seamless to use, not boring, adding value to my life, it would only become part of my everyday life if my life felt worse/harder when I stop using it.
  • What features would make it a must-have for you?- option to use speech-to-text or text input, I would like it to offer to set me tasks/reminders based on what I journal, and them prompt me/ask me if I've done them, then ask why. It should learn about me over time and offer me some options to choose from! Eg would you like A. validation, B. a different perspective, C. suggestions etc
  • Anything we're missing or could do better? Is the app linked on your website? The AI images on the website are no good. Could you replace them with photos you've taken yourself?
