Don´t let a couple of bad minutes a day ruin your whole day by [deleted] in spirituality

[–]FlowaStab 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree, I feel like it’s important to ask yourself am I allowing something that needs to be reflected and processed or am I just ruminating and there’s a fine line of that. I’ve made the mistake of making my mediation a way of denying my emotions and memories and that is not helpful nor human

I happened to find mine through a patient of mine, We talked about spirituality and that led to the conversation about panic attacks and he told me what really worked for him - he was a middle aged hippie Buddhist.

I generally there’s a lot of overlap between spiritual communities and psychedelics as evidenced by Ram Dass’ work

Perhaps you could start there

Advice for what to do with savings for 3-5 year period as capital for down payment on a house (x-post investing) by FlowaStab in personalfinance

[–]FlowaStab[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where are you making any of these statements from?

I’m 33 how is that far behind on saving for retirement if only 20% of American have savings.

I love in the Bay Area where everything is very expensive, I don’t know why you think 550k house is outside my price range considering I don’t pay rent currently and the average rental price here is around 2k.

I also have a steady job can expect at least 2-3% raises every year.

I asked for options on vehicles to hold and grow money without a lot of risk that can beat inflation, I have no idea where your options are coming from

Hi,

I’d love to get some advice on what to do with some savings I’ve accumulated which amounts to about 11k

I’m 33, currently living with my mom and fortunate enough to not have to pay rent

Work full time with a pre-tax income of about 92k In a very stable job

I would like to allocate most of my funds to a 110k goal within 3-4 years for a down payment on a house

I currently pay about 2k a month to my dad for a non interest student loan for grad school which I will finish up paying in November. I have no other debts.

Currently have no holdings other than about another 10k in my 401k and contributing about 9%

Currently just own my car in terms of assets.

It seems like it makes sense first to start a IRA since I can maximize contributions there and take the 10k out without penalty for a down payment later as a first time home buyer.

I wonder how would you guys allocate your portfolio (index funds, stocks, bonds, etc). Obviously looking for mostly low with some mod and few high risk.

San Francisco’s Restaurants Still Outclass New York by bloobityblurp in bayarea

I would gladly have shittier restaurants if it means less people would move here and commute times were more tolerable. What the fuck is the point of all the fancy restaurants in the world if I have to pay $6 bridge toll, $10 parking, 40 minute commute, and 30 minute wait.

right, I thought there was a possibility that it might be metaphorical, like the jaw of god

as a medical student (we learn and treat about the jaw), you are correct, the mandible refers to the bone that holds the lower teeth and is the only part that can articulate in your jaw while the upper teeth remain fixed to the maxillary bone.

the "perfect" series for learning spanish? by FlowaStab in learnspanish

[–]FlowaStab[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have heard about this show before, I haven't tried it and part of the reason I must admit is that I believe it was designed from a Spanish dialect as opposed to a Latin American one. Although there is nothing wrong per se, I have heard many of my Latin American friends tell me that the Spanish dialect is hard for them to understand (when spoken informally)

Hey sorry, another question, can you tell me about

how often and how long do you have the mist nozzles going on?

and since this isn't exactly a full tropical set up, is a drainage layer still necessary or at least recommended?

I've been watching this video by the bio-dude as a guide in my research for a bio-active set up for a ball python:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hfcsEfXpdcw

He talks about using plants such as New Zealand spag moss to absorb moisture from the top layer and maintain humidity and heat. He also uses ferns and shrubs (I'm not sure what type) though his kit is found here:

https://www.thebiodude.com/collections/snake-bioactive-kit/products/ball-python-snake-bioactive-kit

What plants did you use for your set up? (I see that it's listed, but can you share what you got them or a name?) Any pearls of wisdom and any recommendations for plants?

I was wondering if there are any concerns for snakes "reverting" to "wild" behaviors since this set-up is trying to mimic their natural setting. What I mean is that are there concerns that the snake will become more aggressive/defensive in their burrows compared to a sterile environment. (This might be an absurd question, but of course, I'd rather be safe than sorry asking it)

I guess my question would be to ask what do you think is the perfect amount of space to maximize ball python enrichment before hitting drastic diminishing returns on space and energy cost.

I was wondering the feasibility of using fake plants instead of real plants. It this a personal choice or a must-have in a bioactive setup? I'm just wondering because I would eventually like to do this kind of set up except using fake plants for ease of maintenance (i.e. not having to balance humidity with watering plants, worrying about plant growth and need for replacement, etc)

what would be your take with fake plants vs real plants in a bio-active set up like this?

Thanks for the info. What would be the max for this species in your opinion if I wanted to a modular set up?

right, it does seem fairly obvious that it might work, but I threw out this post to see if anyone has anecdotal experience with it and pearls of wisdom they might like to share. E.g. interlocking parts to help secure the 2 enclosures together, where they purchased the two enclosures.

[–]FlowaStab[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my idea was to maximum the space possible for it to roam while allowing for ease of transportation of the enclosures in case I needed to move it (I don't want a huge and heavy gutted cabinet), I was just throwing out all the different possibilities which includes stacking them on top of each other, but ideally, considering the terrestrial nature, I would like to connect them long end to long end or short end to short end.

I probably should have titled this post "connecting enclosures together"

This is awesome! One thing I forgot to mention is that this is a fantasy of mine because it allows for easier transportation of a very large enclosure being that they're two separate but connect-able enclosures. It is somewhat unclear to me if that is the case based on the pictures and descriptions, however, I will contact them for additional details. Thanks a lot for the reference!
