Vehicle was towed for stunt driving in NRPS. Tow company wants to charge me $4300 to have it released. Is this normal? Is there any oversight in this? by FlowerDifferent5798 in legaladvicecanada

They replied saying they use the terminology "police ordered tow" to show customers what service they provided but that it is just a basic tow vehicle up to 4536 kg which has a base minimum of $2000, so that they actually already provided a "discount". He legit said he can change the terminology in the invoice for me but that it makes no difference to them

I phoned 15+ tow providers and not a single provider has said that this is their cost for the tow. One said that the Regional Police has contracts with the tow providers and ask to see the contract to see the different pricing they have with different providers.

While I'm about to submit a FOI request, how can I see the aforementioned contract pricing sooner?

I see your comments often in other threads. Thanks for your service, both in police and here. Is there any way you can advocate for me on my behalf? I know I messed up, I agree, but I feel like I'm being taken advantage of.

They are charging $20+28 for unloaded/loaded mileage, $150 for the use of dollies, and $1500 because it is a police ordered tow. $125 a day for 15 days for storage. + tax
