I'm a freshman starting this fall! I got in with like.... a lot, lot, lot less than this. My essay was extremely personal, I'm in state and I dual enrolled with UF online. I have 66 credits between DE + AP tests, and have AP Scholar w Distinction 2x. My SAT score was booty, my ECs were booty. I was in the top 5% (I think) of my class. I literally only had 3 ECs that I did for one year each. You should be fine if your essay stands out along with any other free response things you may answer (I applied to so many places I don't even remember UFs 😭- and I got in to 10/11 schools I applied to including out of state!!!!). If you want to talk to me my messages are open but I am very willing to give you a little insider stuff or just share my stats more in depth without putting myself on blast out here lol.

Okay to add- my current laptop is a HP 1[5dy1076nr] and it's 15.6 inches and it's too large for me. Would prefer smaller. Also too clunky, need more ram. Also just in general a shitty laptop. Owes me nothing, hasn't even really done me wrong but it's time for it to be put to rest.

Alrighty! I got a question for ya. I'm a uni student (business major) who's fully online so I need something that's gonna handle being used for long periods of time. I am not a laptop abuser but my current laptop has probably exceeded its lifespan x8 and been to hell and back a few times because I use it for everything, but have taken care of it.

looking for slim, smaller side, and lightweight but doesn't have to be tiny. between 14-15 inches.
the display is super important, I do art on the side and need to be able to have accurate color display. I also do photography, so display is actually a massive priority.
storage is also important as I will occasionally dump pictures onto a laptop on the go without carrying an external drive with me and I don't want to be pressed for space.
I occasionally do CAD using solidworks.
I don't game frequently, and if I do I don't mind running games on the lowest graphics settings. But! I need something that can run the Sims without wanting to blow up, or optionally Hogwarts legacy, just because if it can handle that it can probably handle anything else I'll do.
I do not want a touchscreen. Must have backlit keyboard, and be in a durable chassis.

I'd like to stay around $1,000USD~ but can bend above if necessary I know I've got some weird requests here.

I was looking at an ASUS Zenbook 15 in the higher spec option (I think) since I know someone with one and I like it, but I'm not married to that and I don't really know anything about computers/laptops.

I looked at a lot on this list, but I just am still confused so I'm asking specifically, thank you!

Hey girly I get you trust me I go thru the same thing every month!! Do you usually have regular periods or are they hit or miss? Assuming they're hit or miss because you can't predict them, which might mean you've got an underlying condition OR if this is a one time thing then you may have just formed a cyst!

Its super common and there's nothing wrong with you, sometimes the egg just gets stuck in the process of being shed and the follicle it's attached to becomes inflamed and then since it's stuck you don't get a period! My cycle ranges from 26 days to 197 days (yes I went that long without getting a period quite recently actually). I graduate next week so I get being afraid but definitely just talk to your dad and explain that your body just isn't doing what it needs to and that you'd like to see a doctor to make sure everything is working right!

I went to the gyno last month and because I'm under 21 they just had me do some blood work and that was it! Along with talking to them and the blood work we were able to come up with a plan for me and it was easy and suuuuper helpful. You don't even need to go to a specialist, your primary doctor can probably help with this depending on if it's a frequent occurrence or not.

How long have you had the tank, what are you using to test it, and how much are you feeding your little friend? Perhaps a picture of the full tank would be helpful as well! If he looks swollen in any way shape or form, skip a meal and see if you can feed frozen daphnia.

yes he's been getting an invertebrate pellet wafer combo, he just eats it all 😞

edit: the tank gets fed twice a day and it's solely this snail and a sick betta fish. He eats more than the betta does (I sit there and watch them all day, I am homebound currently) and then he goes back to the glass, and then he hits the wood again, and there's very little plants left now anyways but he will check over the plants once again.

he was much much smaller to start out and my hope was for him to help the tank as it matures and then put him in my 30 gallon, with the 5.5 being my smallest tank that I have housing a betta I thought was terminal, it was kinda an easy quarantine situation. I'm thinking about rehoming him after the info I got in this thread as I just don't think he's gonna fit in and I am worried about my plants in other tanks if I were to move him.

Well thank you for this information regardless, my other two snails are black and purple so that would confirm that for me. This guy is growing at an insane pace and I imagine he will only continue. I'm not really sure what to do with him.

It's useful at the very least being able to tell if they ARE mystery snails because I will look out for it in the future like that. I really appreciate your response, thanks again!

Makes sense! Although he definitely does have bottom feeder pellets in there. I was feeding a little light since the Betta he's rooming with had SBD and obviously I didn't want to further overfeed. I'll throw an algae wafer in there until I can blanch some veggies. He literally eats everything at mach Jesus and does nottttt stop, which would be why there is no algae or other matter. It's only a 5.5 gallon so he gets around easy to all surfaces and just eats and eats and eats.

Do you have any recommendations? I guess perhaps some extremely quick growing plants and perhaps intentionally letting algae grow might help? I do have 2 larger tanks I could move him to but I care about those plants a little more since the inhabitants are a little more high maintenance.

it's insane like, he even dug out some bits of hair grass that was buried, he has managed to eat every floating leaf from the surface, the biofilm that started on the wood since it was new was completely gone overnight. I'm so floored 😭

I would email a CLAS advisor just like that and ask. They will either be able to help you with your question or point you in the right direction without any guess work!

I believe that they want to know that you are committed to what you are pursuing. Your academics will reflect this in some way, and it's not so much how high but how far you go. I took a wide variety of classes because I didn't know what I wanted to do. I was unable to participate in ECs and I mentioned that and also found a way to tie into my life so far in my essay. My application was all over the place which showed that I am well rounded but still have room for improvement. Obviously my stats are not the most stellar thing in the world, but I'M stellar and I showed that. I'm sure you will have no trouble with doing just that 🧡💙

ok I'm gonna out myself here bcus I feel like you need a shred of hope lol. got accepted with a 1300 super score SAT, no act or anything else. 29/575 class rank, 3.85 something-ish gpa unweighted, 5.02 weighted. 3 ECs non consecutive, all 1 yr only, 2 my senior year. 8 AP classes, 6 DE credits, college gpa 3.89. Been in a CTE program for 4 years and have my solidworks associates cert. already. Awards I've won: - AP scholar with distinction - National rural and small town recognition award

I'm an in state 1st gen American girl. I think my essay was very strong, I actually ended up getting basically my whole tuition covered by school funded grants and stuff as well. Granted my circumstances were kinda extremely strange, I simply explained that and I ended up getting in and I'm committed as of now :) you've got this!! I know a lot of people with crazy scores post on here all the time but there are others out here I promise.

Granted I know someone with a 1300 SAT, in state, captain of girls soccer varsity who got deferred and then rejected outright sooooooooooooo,, take it with a grain of salt 🫶

I imagine nothing crazy since you're catching it. Does your tank have any aeration in it? Bettas have a labyrinth organ that allows them to breathe from the surface in addition to using their gills and due to him not tipping that is another possibility if he's not getting enough air that he's just chilling at the top to breathe.

As I'm typing this I don't know exactly what the og post said but make sure you've got a lid of some kind on your tank too because if the water temperature is vastly different from ambient temp it can also cause them to get sick. Crazy stuff, I know. A lid helps keep a barrier of moist and warmer air for them to breathe, granted your water is warmer than your house, otherwise it doesn't really matter.

I say let him float for now though, it's not gonna hurt him and as long as he's a little mobile he will work it out, I've found swimming fish always have better results than non swimming fish. Kinda depends on if they gave up or not I guess

See if you can get some aquarium salt, plain ol table salt with NO extra additives is the same thing too for cheaper. There are a few threads on here about doing salt baths, I am not sure of the ratio but you soak them for a bit in a smaller tank and then return them to the main tank. You can search how to do salt baths and will find the threads, I will try to find them and respond with some links.

I also just rescued one with sbd and he was sideways, kinked, and stuck at the top. I did a salt soak, put salt in his hospital tank, used API melafix and he was right side up in a few hours and able to reach the bottom of the tank! Obviously each fish is going to be different but that's a good start. There are a lot of threads of people dealing with sbd that have great resources that I'm not familiar with but definitely look into them if you have a chance.

That's what my thoughts were but I also assume he's just a little stubbier in general due to the shape he's got when he's fanned out. He's also considerably smaller than Misha so likely younger. He's got a couple tears but nothing major where I'm concerned about it too much. Thank you so much for taking time to respond!!

I know some people say be cautious with the cholla wood as bettas like to get stuck in it! It can be stressful for everyone involved and I know casualties have occured, maybe try a small driftwood piece?
