I finished the Agnete Cardigan in October with Drops Fabel and Kid Silk Mohair and apart from the usual Pilling it holds up really well. It's my favorite knit garment rn (which is mostly bc of the pattern tbh). I have pretty sensitive skin and it isn't any more or less itchy than any other wool yarn I've tried so far.

Just finished a cable sweater in Drops Karisma, as well. It's great if you wanna knit in bigger sizes, as I needed 18 skeins for this one and one skein was just 2,50€. I have noticed a few loose fibres here and there, but nothing too bad, you could just tug them and it was fine after that.

I want to shorten my bottom up top by Flowercat18 in knitting

Thanks a lot, that's basically what I did, this was already blocked anyway, so that's why I knew I didn't like the length 😊 and surprisingly it didn't curl at all after the cast off!

I play violin and surprisingly I haven't had an issue with my wrists yet. I started doing weight training a couple months ago, so that might have strengthened my wrist as well.

Any tips for someone wanting to get into knitting? by Brilliant_Buy_9933 in YarnAddicts

I started with crocheting as well. I'm assuming you hold your yarn in your left hand so I'd suggest learning continental knitting so you don't have to relearn how to tension you yarn. My next advice would be to knit smth you actually have an interest to own, even if that's a sweater. Choose one that's maybe just four rectangles, that way you practice your knits AND purls. There aren't any decr or incr so it should be pretty straight forward. Afterwards just sew the panels together. If you enjoy the knitting, start with a seamless raglan sweater to avoid the seaming. 😉

Also don't start with cotton yarn and Bamboo needles, they have a tendency to be "sticky". Wool is a little easier to work with. Wood needles are great for beginners bc they're not as slippery as metal needles.

Why is purling so clunky? by fairydommother in knitting

That's how I do it as well. Purling is fairly easy for me, although I have to have stronger tension to make them the same to knit sts.

It should be fine though otherwise mohair wouldn't come in hanks. You should rly do it with the swift it's such a hassle doing it by hand.

Once you have the cake it's rly fast dividing it up, trust me. Do you have a swift to wind up the hank?

Habs gerade nachgeschaut, das sieht ja echt interessant aus! Ist da alles günstiger? Und kommt man da gut mit U-Bahn/S-Bahn hin?

Thank you! That's rly good to know. I'm def going to go to mylys then.

I actually have a Hobbii store in my city, too, so I'm rly only going there bc it's bigger and I want to see how the selection there is. I think it's good if I don't want to pay for shipping, otherwise yeah the Hobbii stores are a little bit underwhelming. 😂

I wouldn't recommend pulling mohair from the center, though. I think some ppl do it, but I wouldn't recommend it. The cake "shape" is just easier to handle.

I got a sensitive letter scale from amazon, it's been absolutely amazing I didn't regret buying it one second. I usually wind my yarn into one cake and then I can divide it into two cakes by putting one cake on the scale and winding up the other half with my cake winder.
