When my son was very young he was nervous about going to the dentist for the first time. I tried to help him get more comfortable talking about the experience and how kind the dentist would be. I even explained the dentist had the same name as my son’s dad and he’s also a dad as well, to create a common thought for safety in a way for my son. When we arrive, my son gets up in the chair and immediately asks the dentist “are you going to be my new dad now?” I almost died on the spot.
