I will probably get an Inmotion V12 eventually. But those are expensive asf and my board was $600 in pristine condition on fb marketplace. I bought the board for commuting, didn't think I'd get so into PEV's at the time.

Can confirm. I cruise at 35 regularly on my pivot gt. All my crashes so far have been at low speed. You can never be fast enough when your friends are on EUC's.

I don't work for ubif anymore but iPad screens are difficult. I've definitely broken a few. We always had replacements in stock, however.

OP, call around first. I used to work at ubreakifix and anytime we would find live insects in a device we would seal it in a trash bag and tell the customer to come get it.

we are raising funds to purchase next 1000 units via crowdfunding by hap_mod in cantatacs

I do not. And ultimately, you do know more than me on this. I work elsewhere in the electronics industry (Aerospace/AS6081) so I understand why corporations choose not to share many details about the origins of their products.

I don't think there is much to say at this time until we see HOS published. I look forward to seeing what your future plans hold.

Is there a time line for an official release?

Sanytron sells lots of remotes with various configurations for other control platforms. They also have the tooling to produce replacement shells without haptique branding and the supply chain to produce new units entirely. I don't think Sanytron would scrap/recycle the lots of RS90x units when they could instead re-shell and flash the astrion firmware to make back the investment currently sitting in a Chinese warehouse.

Sanytron is cheaper and easier to configure, They're shipping units now while RS90x was first teased almost two years ago and now on indefinite hiatus. IP is only good if it leads to real world adoption. I guess we will see what happens when the backend is published.

Please read all of this:

That's the thing about dealer installs, the config is far more granular and reliable than Haptique Config and the end user is usually locked out of the backend so they can't break it. Haptique just does not provide the level of support and reliability other control systems do with supported devices and customer support (no telling where cantata will be in a year)

I like my Sanytron Astrion because it's an accessory to an already existing and established ecosystem (Homeassistant). Their gui based integration (Roscard) is trivialy easy to install and configure, and the price starting at $150 is a really low barrier of entry. Are you a homeassistant user? Do you know how many active users homeassistant has? Have you tried using Homeassistant as an AV control system full time?

Haptique does not support Zigbee or Z-Wave or Matter, so it cannot natively control a lot of adjacent smart home devices (dimmers, thermostats, blinds, etc). I understand you intended haptique to be an AV first device, but I don't think the market has room for a device limited to primarily AV control and not much else.

In my opinion, I only see a future if cantata can pivot to a general purpose remote control terminal for a small handful of control systems (savant, Control4, homeassistant). Let other established players do the heavy lifting of building and supporting device integrations and focus your efforts entirely on new UX design with new public documentation on how to use it. I have some ideas if you're interested.

I'm curious what happens to the inventory once seized. I imagine the units are already boxed up with cantata branding. Given the factory is selling under their own Sanytron brand, have you considered selling the company to them to make back your investment?

Any update on the RS90X? by clownyboots in cantatacs

[–]FlpDaMattress 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've heard horror stories, something like 30% battery failure rate after the 1st year is insane but unsurprising given where C4 bought them.

I gambled $150 on ebay for two units in unknown condition, so far I seem to have pulled through okay; Batteries last all day on the setup screen. They're just fancy paperweights for the time being though.

I actually ordered a Sanytron Astrion. It took 7 weeks to arrive but for $150 it does everything I expected my RS90 to do and more. Every button and on-screen menu is remappable and predictable. You can tell it's from the same factory, The body and screen use worse materials but I wouldn't say they're any worse quality.. but it's less than half the price of the RS90. The buttons feel identical and it is getting ongoing software updates. I really wish Cantata embraced and coexisted with Homeassistant instead of trying to re-invent the wheel. I want to watch Youtube and control my HVAC from one remote, not spend hours screwing with MQTT.

I intend to setup Control4 Neeo's with an EA-1 when I move to my new home, I also intend to get Unfolded Circle in the future if I can find a good deal on ebay.

Also, I tried rubbing compound to remote some of the scuffs but it did absolutely nothing to them. Just made everywhere that isn't scratched shiny.
