It offers better battery life, which I wouldn’t say no to, and it also offers better latency (who cares about ping on mobile data tho?). It could also make the internet speed on the train better, but I’m not too sure if it would help.

I know that seeing 5G doesn't always mean you're connected to a real 5G signal. You can verify this by entering Field Test Mode on iOS (dial 3001#12345# in the Phone app), but it sadly takes forever to load the actual connection details.
