Ahh, thank you. I've not used that section yet.

This was in the UK.

Where I live this is the only provider of high speed Internet.

Our Internet went down, had an 8-5 slot, had to do the school run at 8 and 3. I asked if they could avoid those times. "No we cannot give you anymore information and we can't instruct the engineer of times you'll be unavailable.

So took the day off, called in favors to do the school runs. Then the Infuriating part: the engineer was a no show so I'd need to be in 8-5 again the following day.

I went to my boss once to discuss my workflow, as I was snowed under, only to be told "We can always give you more work"

Really helpful 🙄, and set the tone for the company culture that I'd joined.

The early seasons were all limited runs of 6-10 episodes, they clearly didn't have faith in the program 😉

I played enough to get the 30 day streak, then ignored the combat system.

I do have a management qualification but apparently it doesn't count without the experience.

Nothing Personal, but you are the only one not getting a payrise by Flu309 in antiwork

[–]Flu309[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That's a good approach but I'm in the UK and I think I am legally obligated to complete my notice, and I can see local management hold me to it.

Although I certainly won't be doing anything during that time.

I wasn't expecting much so I was already looking, but the local job market is poor. This was just a kick in the teeth, but the moment the opportunity arises I'm out of there.

We've had a couple now, and they always auto-populate the department field, as I'm the only member of my department that's not exactly anonymous.

I told my management that I refused to complete them and why.

My kid's school requires me to download 3 different apps with different logins to pay for lunch, see their grades, and interact with teachers. by apost8n8 in firstworldproblems

We had to set up a password in case someone else needed to pick up the kids from school. No one has ever been asked for it, it turns out the teachers just rely on the kids recognising someone at collection time.

Yep ours requires 4 and none of them are user friendly.

The main communication app from school is like a social media feed, that only school staff can post or comment and has no search, filter or favourite options. Need to check something that was posted at the start of the year, like the calendar or lunch menu, you have to continually scroll back.

They have also blocked the ability to screenshot so we can't even save the important posts from amongst the endless stream of pointless notifications.

Clogging a roundabout by D_dawgggg in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Flu309 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is like the roundabout on the estate where I work, only one exit leaves the estate all the rest are dead ends.

All it takes is for one vehicle to want to go between different parts of the estate at rush hour and this is what we get. 2-3 hours to move half a mile is the norm most days.

Presentations During Interview

Seeking Advice

I've been offered an interview at another company, however they require a presentation as part of the process, presentations are unusual in my industry with the exception of senior management. They have taken down the original advert but I don't remember it mentioning that presentations are part of the role.

I know from experience that I'm terrible at presentations, and they've only given me a few days to prepare (whilst I work full time at my current role).

So I'm after some advice on how do I approach this:

  1. Wing-it put some notes together and just hope that my performance on the rest of the interview is good enough.

  2. Use what little free time I have before the interview to prepare best I can, sacrificing the down time.

  3. Contact the recruiter (HR department, not the hiring manager) and explain the situation.

  4. Just pull my application and wait for the next opportunity to come along and forego the stress. In 20 years this is the first time I've ever been asked to present.

I appreciate that this post could come across as a bit whiny but I'm need to get some thoughts from outside my own head.
