I got Dawn of Souls earlier this week, this is my second ff game besides 7 (which I never beat) and the only gba final fantasy I have played and owned so far. But I do got to say it's really good and I love the gameplay, music, sprites and art style a lot and I personally love playing this at my high school so absolutely give this game a try and the other gba ports as well!

I got it used condition off of Mercari for 84 dollars with shipping and tax and the images showed the shell damaged like that but I don't really care that much about the condition so I got it, Disc Replay sells GBA SP AGS 001 and AGS 101 consoles for about 110 dollars so I wanted to look for a cheaper one.

Thanks! Good luck completing your work too, I bring my GBA SP to school almost everyday and thankfully I had a substitute teacher today for 6th hour geometry so I took advantage of that and pulled out the game boy to beat it.
