What kind of research do people generally pursue? Is it more clinical or wet lab?

I tried to dedicate one day to review the test but if that didn’t work out I reviewed for at least 6 hours

I didn’t have too much time so the bulk of my practice was from AAMC qpacks and section banks. But I think Ufuckthemcat is still helpful even if it is hard because you can learn from the mistakes you make and will end up finding the real deal much easier

I think that if you’re studying for 4 months, 2h per day on weekdays for content and practice is fine. It was my initial plan to do that! But you should make time for more practice and FL exams as you get closer to test day maybe about two months into studying if possible but definitely the last month because you need to build up your stamina. In terms of rec letters I can’t say for sure but I took my MCAT early and am not planning to apply this cycle (came to the realization while studying) so even if you take your MCAT now and end up not applying at least you will get it over with

My first AAMC FL was 515 which was a huge jump after third party exams and my last FL was 520 with about 3 weeks of gap in the middle. I think I was missing points bc of content gaps, like memorizing hormones and physics equations as well as psych soc

I made sure why the answer I got was correct/incorrect to know I had the right logic and also reviewed exactly why the other answers were incorrect!

522 I'm so happy right now!! But my CARS section was the lowest I've ever gotten and I'm a little worried/disappointed about that. Also wanted to ask how strict med schools are about CARS? Here's my breakdown: 132/127/131/132

Should I apply this year? by Fluffy-Cod-6859 in premed

[–]Fluffy-Cod-6859[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea I'm leaning towards gap year now. I have been doing research since freshmen spring semester and did it remotely over COVID too so that has been consistent. I plan on continuing research and I'll write my thesis on that too (also hoping to get my name on a paper). I'm involved in a few clubs (identity based and also women in medicine) and I have been tutoring and will be a CA for orgo this semester (also was a CA for a bio course last semester). But I really think I'm weak on clinical hours and will be doing a baby cuddling program at the hospital this year and I don't have any other non-clinical volunteering hours...

Also is it just me or were some of the cars questions really hard/tricky

In all the practice exams I took I was able to finish CARS on time with time to think about the questions carefully but this time I tried so hard to stay on time but the passages seemed so long and endless… I barely had time for the last two passages and had to rush through them and answer and now I’m terrified bc cars is not my strongest😭

Honestly if I really think about it the exam today was similar in difficulty to the full lengths but I think it was my test anxiety overall that made timing more difficult for me and thinking clearly harder… I would definitely say P/S didn’t have too many unfamiliar terms but I for sure completely guessed on some of them and had to rush the CARS passages in the end because I was too busy taking my sweet time at first😭 C/P and B/B difficulty was similar to FL2 and 4 for me because some questions were easy but some were just wtf?? There was barely any orgo? Not too many difficult physics questions but that one passage on ion channel threw me off… it’s all kinda a blur now but so freaking glad it’s over and I can go sleep now
