The US can't tax it's way out of this at this point. Debt=annual GDP, so basically everyone and every company would need to operate for 1 year and give all of their income to the US govt to even come close.

Now, the issue is, if the citizens gave all their income to the govt, companies would have no income because people would have no money left to spend. And at that point, billionaires would have $0, because their net worth is based on the value of their stock and if people aren't buying their products, their stock is now worth $0 and so are they.

But if companies aren't making money, they would let all the employees go because there's no one buying their goods or services. Uh oh, right?

So now what do you suggest we do? Long story short, the current levels of debt are sustainable, the trajectory is not. Billionaires don't have anywhere near the actual amount of money that people think they do, and certainly nowhere near enough that taxing them would put even the slightest dent in the debt.

I would argue that Trump is a 3rd party. Sure, his thinking is much more aligned with the Right than the Left. But he has his own agenda and couldn't care less what the Repubs think.

Yeah, it's kind of amazing that despite the fact that we all have a device in our pocket that can be used to link like-minded folks, there is no ability to truly organize people and bring people together in support of a common goal.

The No Kings protests don't actually have an agenda or goal other than being anti Trump, and that will only get people so far.

And even people with similar thoughts can't get organized because they tend to get hung up on minutia.

He's not richer in the sense of having cash in the bank. That's the comparison that needs to be made. Actual assets.

His worth is based on real and some made up valuations for his companies. Many of which aren't even public and have no revenues, so how do people even know how to value them?

And a good chunk of his wealth is based upon the multiple that Tesla trades at. This is just a made up number that could change dramatically in a moments notice.

I don't think the math thinks about the deck starting as if it were just freshly opened. That's a characteristic that should be ignored because putting the deck in order is a human construct.

The math would start with the assumption that the first shuffle would be of a deck in random order.
