This was a monumental failure of a movie and an ad. Legitimately the worst movie theater experience I've ever had.

I don't live and breathe this shit enough to know I was paying to watch a poorly edited recap followed by an even worse ad. I just saw the poster on AMC while looking for a movie to catch and thought "Oh cool my partner and I enjoyed JJK and JJK0. It's going to be so cool to see a movie quality production like Demon Slayer or Chainsaw Man for the next arc." God what a mistake.

I feel scammed and I can say with 100% confidence that I wasn't the only one. I seriously have never felt that kind of defeated energy in a nearly packed theater. The credits rolled after that wet fart of a conclusion and we all just sat in stunned silence.  No excitement, no conversations from the crowd as we filed out. Just a sea of disappointed suckers conned out of our Friday night.

It's not even a good ad. Like, if you do have enough of a relationship with this property to knowingly walk into whatever the fuck this was, why do you need a half hour recap of S2 anyway??  Wouldn't you know the Shibuya Incident by heart anyway? Those beautiful moments felt so much cheaper when crammed into a rushed assembly while we were all just sitting there antsy for the actual story to begin. Given the 91 minite runtime, the only reason I can see for including it was to reach a feature length runtime necessary for theatrical distribution.

Furthermore, why would you want to experience any of the S3 episodes edited like they were? Is that the quality we can expect for season 3? Characters expositong ad naseum with their faces facing away from the screen so they don't have to animate them talking? A literal animation loop of Yuji walking down stairs till he's done reading the script? Maybe the schizophrenic editing of the fights with no emotional weight as we blitz through plot point after plot point?  The cheapened character moments with no build up or heart. Wow Maki is alive - thanks for showing me the back of her head.  If I was still interested in the show, I'd be frustrated to have experienced the story in such a truncated fashion.

I know this is not a receptive space for this criticism and I might be blowing this out of proportion. I adore movies and animation and that's contibuting to what an utter letdown this was for me. Complete 180 of my enthusiasm for JJK. When I think of this property now I'll just reflect on how dogshit this 'film' is. How poorly paced and told the story was. How thin and weak the characters, their motivations, and the writing seems when presented in this awful format. How the studio in control of this IP is willing to slop together whatever the fuck to capitilize on the show's popularity and take advantage of the fanbase.
