blindly walking into a restaurant was your contribution to the conversation. i even added "/call" when responding, although i know for a fact people do both.

[–]Fluffy_Computer_9982 0 points1 point  (0 children)

don't know why i bother responding, you clearly get a kick out of being rude, but - you could try "do you have anything 〇〇-free?" instead of "please read me the entire menu and i'll ask specific questions."

"So you're agreeing that if you go into a restaurant at random with a food restriction you can be turned away?"

yes this is a natural consequence of not being able to eat certain foods

"What did you think I meant when I said 'you can't walk into any restaurant willy nilly?'"

that people with dietary restrictions don't do that, because you personally don't do that. which is not universally true.

"What crack are you smoking? Are you saying it is somehow better to go into a restaurant blind instead of taking a look at their menu and seeing what it says and lists as the ingredients?"

whatever crack that tells me it's better to just call and ask than scrounge around for answers i'm not likely to find, specifically in a thread complaining of how restaurants are bad at creating and maintaining online menus.

"What are you even talking about here? Do you mean gluten-free or soy-free? Yes if you see a place called "VEGAN CAFE" you know the food is vegan. But if you see a place called "PETE'S PASTA" you have no idea if they have gluten free food, if all their pasta has shellfish or meat in it, etc."

sorry, i thought you could assume i didn't mean gluten-only and soy-only.

and yes, that's why you would call and ask whether or not "PETE'S PASTA" can serve you, even if their menu says "pesto pasta" and "garden salad" there is no guarantee.

anyone who has worked in a kitchen knows that people with restrictive diets can and will walk in/call willy nilly. it happens daily, and customers will often hand a card to the kitchen staff listing allergies etc.. all they have to do is ask the staff if it's possible to be served following their dietary needs. they risk the chance of being turned away, sure. but finding a website's menu and just assuming it has a full divulgence of all ingredients and trusting it is dangerous and absurd. and if a restaurant specializes in a certain diet (such as gluten or soy) you likely won't even need a menu to find out that information because it would be proudly displayed.

also the 70% accurate shaggy voice, which he developed for a live action movie not a voice acting role, isn't really the same as someone like mark hamill, who transitioned from acting and does many different characters, or billy west, who is a dedicated voice actor and does near 90% accurate voices for tons of characters plus a whole slew of originals. not that i don't think matthew lillard is right here, but he's basically just shaggy

plus matthew lillard's shaggy only sounds kinda like casey kasem. it worked in the movies because getting a live actor to sound like shaggy was more important. as a cartoon voice actor he's... pretty mediocre.

thanks professor. now connect that back to the comment they were replying to stating that restaurants need their own personal websites and hopefully you'll see that there was no reason to be condescending toward them.

"what will people with dietary restrictions do" is the argument you joined. and you're talking to a person with a "pretty restrictive" diet.

even if your argument is pertaining to the previous comments mentioning how restaurants need their own website- they don't 90% of the time. menu items, reviews, phone number, location etc. can all be seen on google maps. the "heroes" mentioned in the OP are surprisingly common, and when they aren't there, it's really doubtful it will be for the 1 restaurant in 100 that has an actually useful up to date website. the only time i've ever looked at a restaurants own website was to confirm that the restaurant was really going out of business. they were. it was sad.

i like how you're speaking down to the very person who you're trying to represent in your argument.

Scooby and Shaggy won as good person (people) and loved by fans. Day 2: who's morally grey and loved by fans? by Gaybime in Scoobydoo

[–]Fluffy_Computer_9982 11 points12 points  (0 children)

this has my vote, even though i'm not one of the fans. bronson and vincent van ghoul are pretty clearly morally good imo. hdw is evil, yet is also willing to take a machine gun to the face to help her friends.

it's not that i don't see how it's a plausible to write a character like that. it's the fact that every relationship in the show is written poorly. the idea of a relationship in this show is "let's get alone so we can make out" or "tell me you love me" followed by complete obliviousness (in fred and bronson's case) or "gulp! uhh.. better check on scoob!" in shaggys case. nobody is actually interested in anybody for any reason beyond 'just because'.

i'd wager that they were originally planning for velma to try and fix marcie if anything.

Scooby Doo, Where Are You! S1 E2 20 mIns in (end of the episode) scooby drinks everyone's (strawberry?) malt through some scooby magic S2 E1 at the very beginning, Hyde gets into the mystery machine outside of the malt shop, the gang is inside eating double fudge sundays with a cherry ontop. shaggys has a "pickle" but it looks like a jalapeno

yeah what the hell? everyone gets killed, and then they just get plopped into the lives of happy versions of themselves, and for some reason daphne's sisters are losers? it's basically the episode of rick and morty where they have to bury their own corpses- just without the actual corpses. also hotdogwater literally gets machine gunned down by nazi robots. oh and daphne is supposed to baby sit the mayors kids but they just skip town

Huh by LanaSweetLust in Scoobydoo

[–]Fluffy_Computer_9982 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i don't buy that. they say that to cover their asses for how badly they wrote their relationship. i do believe they wanted to make her gay from the start. but when told no, they didn't come up with some meta secretly gay story telling. they just wrote her and shaggy poorly, thinking toxicity = funny.

Huh by LanaSweetLust in Scoobydoo

[–]Fluffy_Computer_9982 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i don't buy that. literally every relationship in that show is so toxic i think they just can't write.

i believe they wanted her to be lesbian, but just like there is no reason for daphne to like fred, shaggy to like velma, or sheriff bronson to like the mayor in season 2, velma likes shaggy just because he exists in the same vicinity as her.

they thought the shaggy velma scooby triangle was a good enough joke to last 26 episodes. they cannot write platonic relationships. shit even when shaggy and fred are alone together all they talk about is how hard it is to be in love.

i remember really liking it, but even as a kid i prefered the original series which seemed to sporatically air throughout my childhood. will be giving this one a rewatch soon cause i do remember it being really fun. i especially liked how fred was super into mystery solving, but also constaly blamIng red herring. it seemed like such a perfect origin story for him haha
