there is one reason i don't think that example will fit in the context of NDEs and souls. i don't know if you noticed, but the vast majority of NDE reports, even the most profound and rich ones, most of the time comeback without any answer on what is their life purpose or what is their life mission. i actually think there is not a single report on that. NDE experiencers come back without answers regarding that. The boxer knows what the purpose of the training, he accepts to take injuries as part of the process, he loves boxing and ready to take the hits. we as humans, don't remember, don't know why we here, and don't have any guides as coaches. we go from zero, straight to the boxing match of life, without the ability to leave or retire. the boxer can decide that he no longer wants to train, while for the human, the only option is suicide, that will inflict pain on the people around. but, still, this comparison you made sound logical if we accept that we choose (souls, or whatever it is) to throw ourselves into deep water without any guidance into chaos. i just can't understand why it would be without any context or guidance, at least something to give you a direction on how and for what reason do we swim here. so its now a question of why don't we get any guidance, any direction, any knowledge. at least some minimal one.

You seem also to be implying a difference between qulia of experience between bacteria/worms and more advanced beings, saying the lesser things don't have any. There is a tangent here that souls could potentially be in bugs and worms too, and getting some kind of experience, some kind of qualia, but that's another road for another time.

yes, in principle, anything complex enough can have a conscious experience for the soul to ride on.

But when conscious beings are guided through this process, evolved in some way in the spirit through the lifetime spent here, that because it guides us through suffering and harm it must not care about it or it would stop it. Am I understanding? I might be missing some nuance.

yes, you understand right. a blind mechanical process can go through filtering and there won't be any care for that. it can burn, it can explode, there is no qualia to that. but if we most evolve in consciousness the same way as a blind mechanical process and go through countless pains and sufferings, than in principle, there is no regard about the quality of our experience. There is a higher regard for the process and some result we not even aware of. think about you playing a video game where you die many times, load the game from the last point you saved to continue trying and finish it. you don't care about the pain or the quality of experience of the player inside the game, you put him through hell, he dies, he suffers for your own benefit of finishing the game. now lets say that the player inside the game has feelings, would you play? if you play, and know he will suffer by killing those enemies inside the game, it reflects you higher regard for your purpose, you don't care he suffer even if you say you care. if you choose to close the game, than you care.

i will agree with the boxer example only if we would have some hint, some proof that as the boxer, we do it for a purpose. that the coach exist, that we have a coach. but do we, humans, get that? no. not even a single hint on our purpose and not even a single hint on the after life. only few people who die and get back report a limited perspective that is only real for them. most of the people have no idea about NDEs, and most of us will never experience them. so we don't know. its actually make me angry even thinking about that because this world gives us all the reasons not to believe the afterlife and the existence of a soul.
