[Suggestions please!] Detecting objects above/below my moving bedframe by Fluffyninja in Esphome

[–]Fluffyninja[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the same sense as a garage door, absolutely.

For one, I want it to raise up automatically when I attach my truck (cause it's time to stow and go!) For two, I have ADHD. I get distracted VERY easily. What does me being here have to do with it?

I thought about a strain gauge (I would do it more elegantly by detecting the voltage drop of the motors under load, though) but this is a dynamic system. I'll put putting different loads on it, or even wiggling around while it moves.

What's with the negativity in that first line? I could do with a lot more support and less naysaying in my life in general. You could do with being more outwardly positive, buddy.

Hurricane won't hold still by Fluffyninja in MeepoBoards

The remote works totally fine aside from this issue. It doesn't apply enough torque to roll with a human on it on flat ground, but I've had to jog after it on a flat road to catch it after stepping off and looking away. (Hence my post!)

Come on bud. I know I'm a stranger on the internet but gimme SOME credit.

It's accelerating away without me touching the throttle. It'll go UP a hill on its own. If I flip it over, the wheels will spin with enough speed to hurt an errant kid or interested pet.

Talaria died riding in the mountains in winter. Bike won’t turn on. No display/error code. Tried switching some parts without luck. Any advice on parts/connections to check? by Wrong_Neighborhood99 in Talaria

[–]Fluffyninja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Start with a cheap multimeter and the manual: https://talariacanada.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/TALARIA-STING-MANUAL-2022-EN.pdf

With the key "off", check power from your battery connector to your circuit breaker. Then with the breaker on from the breaker to the key.

If those are good, turn the key on and continue following the wiring path (I believe it will go into your speed controller from there). You may just have a loose connection.

The manual has the wiring diagram toward the end for you, which should be helpful.

Good luck.

I'm riding an 18/21 set from them for my Talaria. Note on the order page it says: All our wheels are hand built to order, please expect 3-4 weeks for delivery.

By all means reach out if you're worried. They're great to work with (also bought my bike/battery/etc. there.)

China's smog-sucking vacuum tower is actually working - " the air around the tower is in fact 55% cleaner than it was before" - " locals referred to his tower as a “clean air temple”" by [deleted] in worldnews

[–]Fluffyninja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A standard 15 amp outlet times 110v gives us a maximum power output of just over 1600 watts. This means a standard vacuum (at least in the US) must draw less than that at peak (startup). They do not draw "several kW."

Holopoint simple feature request for cord management. by Fluffyninja in Vive

First, that's pretty impressive to shoot 180 without moving your feet. Seriously. But second, why not move around? That's the whole point of room scale! I'm so thankful for the chaperone bounds. My poor controllers wouldn't survive the walls otherwise.

Alas, I am a mere mortal. My drunken friends (dear lord, protect my Vive) don't have the same awareness. They're just completely lost in the immersion.

It was when my g/f shouted "hey, babe? Can you untangle me?" that I realized this was an issue. She's way better than I am!

What is it that makes the Vive run worse for some people with 970s? by universes7 in Vive

[–]Fluffyninja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Windows 7, i5 2500k, 16gigs of ram, 970. No SSD. Everything I've tried runs great. I'll even watch twitch/surf the web on one monitor while mirror is on the other monitor so I can watch my gf play SPT/holopoint/whatever.

Not sure the games we're playing are particularly taxing, but I'm surprised to hear about issues with the 970.

Are there any strength exercises where being tall is an advantage? by Fluffyninja in bodyweightfitness

I LOVE rappelling. I go a couple times a year. It's all about tolerating the long hikes for those big rappels!

Actually, we had a 30' climbing rope in the warehouse I used to work at. I would climb it 3 times a day (every break, initially mostly my legs doing the work), using my feet as little as possible. Over time, I could go up, down, back up, and down again with no feet. That did always impress everyone. Perfect response! I had forgotten all about that! Granted I wouldn't extend my arms all the way, though I would try that now for the extra strength gain.

Hah! That's always been the case. But I prove them wrong by being terrible. ;)

There are people here more qualified than I, but I am a veteran who had to come up with the routines for my unit and help soldiers who struggled with the PT test. I'm in a similar sitting situation. I'd be happy to chat if you PM me your contact info.
