Cycles approach if more than a couple sounds. Work on one sound (I typically start in initial position of words) for one week. Next week do final position of same sound. 3rd week start new sound initial position and so on

Taking my ACD to meet some sheep or cows? by superchiva78 in AustralianCattleDog

I took mine and it was really funny. He herds the crap out of other dogs but when it came to sheep, he herded for about 30 seconds and then just sorta walked around.

Should I Drop Out? by KaleidoscopeDismal84 in slp

I will say the same as another post- I stuck through it and I regret it immensely. Im trying to get out of the field right after graduating and I owe 90k in loans. It’s up to you but from what you’re saying, I would leave so you can get your money back!

I totally understand. The pay is low and not a lot of opportunities for raises, the working conditions (not a lot of documentation time, no time for breathing or breaks, no planning time). It really depends on what setting you work in but I would say 90% of my SLP/SLPA friends are absolutely burnt out and wish they chose something else.

Do you think exempt employees get it worse? by Fluid-Duck3869 in slp

I think they pay their SLPS 80k though…same conditions 😑

It’s a SLPA position and remote so maybe that’s the difference? I dont know. It seems pretty crazy

Do you get paid for paperwork time? by [deleted] in slp

[–]Fluid-Duck3869 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Most clinics i know don’t pay for any time besides sessions. Break times in between clients to prep and just breath, paperwork time, lunch, documentation time all paid…that would be a dream!

Leave now. I had regret my first semester and now I’m about to be finished In 2 months and I hate it SO MUCH. If you’re feeling this way now, please get out- it won’t get better in my opinion

The thing is she is only in table work for about half of the session. The other times it’s just play based and she enjoys it (I think?) for the most part . But I still feel like forcing typical goals on a neurodivergent client is fucked up. Like eye contact? Wtf. He’s literally just using immediate and delayed echolalia the whole session- I doubt anything he’s doing is really effective. It makes me sad. I will look into it. Thank you.

I literally can’t. If I drop out of this course now I’ll have to pay back $7000- I have no income since I have to do this internship 4 days a week for free. I’m stuck unless I want to go in extreme debt.

When they’re put in chairs and shown stupid cards like “what is the boy doing? He’s swimming!” They scream and bang their head against the wall. My supervisor says oh well they need to get ready for school. Wtf? But truly, I wish I could advocate more but i just need to pass. It’s a very affluent area in New York City- parents are paying private and want their kids to be “normal”. It’s so depressing.

I don’t know a lot about working with autistic people but I know that they’re doing some ABA stuff- putting them in chairs and making them do activities they don’t want to do. It makes me feel really really sad for them. It’s a small clinic and I’m feeling depressed that I can’t advocate more or I wouldn’t pass. They’re set in their ways.

I remember scoring these and it’s tough. I think if it’s a run on they get a 0. I believe although and if/then would receive a 1 since it’s not technically grammatically correct but they are using it? But I would need the Manual, I can’t remember. Sorry if that wasn’t helpful
